from what I can see there a much fewer switches in that pit than the F-16's! That extra MFD must come in handy, looks a pretty awesome pit!

Nice! It's very unique that the "flight stick" is not in the center but off to the right. What about "lefty’s?"

Leftys will also fly with their right hand. Its really not hard to do. I'm a righty and I have to fly some planes with left hand. You'll quickly adjust to it. Funky |

Say, I've been doing some reshearch... -the Raptor's ceiling performs at 50,000 ft (15240 m) while the Eagle's ceiling is at 65,000 feet (19,812 meters). If the F22 has a 35,000 lb of afterburnner, twice the F15... why can't it operate as high? Personally, I don't like this. ![]() http://www.globalaircraft.org/planes/f-22_raptor.pl

have another search around and you will see some places say 65,000 some say 60,000. But who knows what the real number is when there are so many differnat figures out there. Anyone else think thats prolly one number that they wont give away to easy given the tactics that have already been sugested they use - sit up very high and look over everything?

Another thing also is that the number you're looking at is their "service ceiling"... not their actual ceiling. Service ceiling is often limited to aircraft's pressurization system, but it is not the highest the airplane can cruise at or climb to. I'm sure that F-22 could easily reach 100,000 feet and even go higher, but its not made to do that everyday. F-16 can reach 100K ft, F-4s have, and I'm sure F-22 could too, but in case of a de-pressurization, not only will the pilot go unconscious (even with pressure breathing and 100% oxygen) but his blood will boil. Also, 60,000ft is the limiting altitude when it comes to pressure breathing and your body's boiling level. Your breathing equipment and your oxygen are useless at that point if you loose your pressurization. So unless there's an experiment is going on where the pilot is wearing a space suit, or he absolutely has to, in a combat situation, never expect any of our fighters to go above 60,000 feet. Funky |

The only way you'll learn rral numbers on one of these planes is to get killed by one. That's the only way anybody will be learning what they are capable of, and that is why they are so dominant.
I agree with Funky. I have always suspected the numbers on the F15 to be less than reality. That plane has destroyed everything it has come against. I would NOT want to ever get into a real fight with an F-15. Toi get into any kind of fight with an F22 would be suicide. The US will only put info out there that is in our best interest. That would include correct info, disinformation, or even completely fabricated outright lies. Heck, for that matter the entire F22 program could just be a cover for something else we have that nobody even knows about. Eventhough it IS a real program, the program itself could be a capaign to sidetrack the enemy...or not. Never underestimate what we will do. We'll do anything. Anything and everything to protect those pilots, and see to it they win the battle...every single time...and they WILL.
