View Full Version : Patches on Flightsuite
Something that bothers me for some time is the question: Is or have there ever been a rule which patch goes on which side?
Sometimes there are only squadron markings, sometimes they have the wing they belong to on it. I can't see a system. Only the Name Tag seems to be on the same position...
Somehow i don't get it...

Although I'm no pilot in the RNLAF, our clothing manual includes pilot flightsuits
Left chest: Wings + Pilot's name
Right chest: Squadronpatch
Left upper sleeve: Aircraft type patch
Right upper sleeve: Specific patch (eg WIO, TLP)
No other badges are allowed to be worn on the flightsuit.

The nametag goes on left chest, you MAJCOM goes on right chest (PACAF, AETC, ACC, etc) Your left arm has your wing patch (usually) and your right arm is the Squadron or personalized patch. The left arm patch has the most leeway and changes the most, (like Friday patch).
Hmm, thanks for the anwsers. Just to get this right - let's say i'm in a fictional squad in europe.
Left chest: Name & Wings
Right chest: United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE)
Left arm: Third Air Force
Right arm: XYZ Squadron
Would that be correct? If yes, could be the Third Air Force replaced by any Operational Command, Air Division, Wing or Group?

You would not have a third AF unless you work directly for them. It should be the wing that your SQ belongs to. Everything else looks right.
Ok, thanks for clearing that up!
