Pro-97 Skipping

My Pro-97 scanner can only relay me constant radio xmits for about 1 second before it skips, and continues sending me audio again. So what I'm left with while listening is: Cessna 25....climb and mai.....3000 fee....

It's frustrating because I can't always make out what someone says. The NOAA frequency works just fine though, and doesn't skip at all.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try moving the squelch button untill the point you hear static noise. Then move back until you don't hear static again. This way you will also recieve weaker signals which could solve your problem.

interesting... my icom has started doing the exact same thing... it's only a few monoths old, and mine's not a squelch issue...

Antenna/reception issue maybe? Is it still intermittent if you: 1) check the antenna connection, and; 2) grab the antenna with your hand while x-mitting or receiving?

Also, be sure to check the batteries.

I know how to use squelch, and definitely not a weak signal. The radio x-mits were pretty close to me, haha:

It's a steady, evenly spaced skip. Not random. I'm gonna look into this PRI thing DWC was talking about.
