I suspect most UK based members will be aware of this, but tragically two young Air Cadets and their staff instructors were killed in a mid-air collision today in South Wales.

As a military pilot and ex Air Cadet myself, this is particularly heart-rending.

My thoughts to all those concerned.

R.I.P.

Also tonight a DHC-8-402 Q400 of Continental Connection/Colgan Air has gone down after landing short of the runway in Clarence, NY. So far 1 confirmed ground fatality, and it's looking like most if not all aboard were killed (48 aboard).

A grand total of 49 was killed, including 1 on the ground. A tragic story from a line of events in 2009.

Ive been under the impression that aircrafts has become quite good at being in the air lately, but seems like there has been some major incidents this year.

The Q400 has also been in a lot of trouble in scandinavia, due to incidents related to the landing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Dash_8_landing_gear_incidents) gear in 2007.
