I haven't seen that in a Flight sim yet (FSX...)... yet, its very scary

Yep, this is done with every new engine. Basically if a blade gets loose it'll just cause havoc. You can definitely forget about the engine. Blade will be sucked into the compressor and rip it apart.
The decisive part is the blade to stay within the engine (and rip it apart) and not to leave the engine cowling. Loosing an engine is far less severe than a blade ripping through the wing and the fuel tank in it.
Please note that this is explosives connected to one of the rotor blades!
Almost laughed myselfe to death reading this is a "birdstrike".... or do al-quaida train jihad pidgeons now?
Also, if i remember correctly, this is during the testing of A380-engines, and not something you would encounter -HOPEFULLY- at 40.000ft.

If you loose a fan blade it usually occurs after takeoff or on climb. Would ruin your day still.
