I have a HF289H Hanspree moniter and have two cable to my 880GTX.

1. HDMI to DVI
2.DVI to DVI.

What is the better quality cable to hook to my Moniter that has the HDMI ports on it.

What cable should i use for my monitor?
Thanks.!

As far as I know, there should be no difference. The video is transferred digitally either way, so it should look the same.

DVI - DVI.

Never convert if you have the option. There will always be a loss. Not to say you would notice it, but it will be there.

In this case, I don't think there is actually a "conversion". The digital signal remains in the same format the whole time. No bits get changed, so there is zero difference.

I believe Playloud is right. It's a digital to digital signal. It either works or it doesn't

Not quite, there's digital and there's digital. You can convert from one digital format to another with a loss. What's more, a digital signal (or generally a digital device) with its definite ones and zeroes is a nice abstraction but deep down it is still implemented in analogue technology. That's why you have to increase the core voltage when you're overclocking a CPU and why digital cables (such as HDMI and DVI) still have a maximum length beyond which they lose their "perfectness". Not that it matters in this case though.

By the way, how were you planning to connect a monitor with only HDMI inputs via a DVI-DVI cable?

There has to be a conversion. Look at the number of pins on the DVI verses the HDMI cable.
