These goggles might be worth watching. I haven't read to much on the site yet, but I'll get to it.

Finally an HD visor! Do you know where they put the pricing and all?
Funky
Hm that SVGA version sounds nice but rather expensive:
Two models are currently offered. A less expensive mid resolution design (800x600) and a high-end version (1024x768, 1280x720p). Both are lightweight and provide portability, making it perfect for mobile imaging applications. Unfortunately i couldn't find any pricing...

I saw a short description in IEEE magazine and they mentioned prices of $1000 for the model 1 and $1500 for the model 2. A little steep for my budget, but prices of electronics always come down. Just not fast enough, though. I'd might be able to justify spending $400 if I really worked at it. After all, it would be like burying a new monitor and motion sensing. I'll just keep on dreaming.

The bad news, if you have to ask for pricing, it's always gonna be too much.
The good news, FINALLY consumer HMD with 1280x720 res.

But are they available now!! $800 thats about 400GBP I would get them at a drop of an hat if I knew they were available.
But they are obviously to late for falcon as they need to have code built into the game to use the goggles, saying that TrackIR was coded retrospectively
Hi,
I'm Ethan Schur the Director of Product Marketing at TDVision. We have units ready for Pre-order at http://www.tdvision.com/preorder Let me know if you have any questions about our units. I've modified tested a version of Flightgear with the TDVisor and it really looks amazing.
What's this Falcon you mention we are late for?

Falcon 4.0 is an old F-16 flight sim all the combat guys like to fly. A bunch of the guys that make simpits build thiers around that game. It's older than dirt though, hence a potential for incompatibility with new toys and technogear. It's a potential problem of Falcon, not your product. Might be cool to pick up a copy and see if it works though. :wink2:

The price tag is very interesting and tempting, but...
4:3 image (1024x768) with a 70" diagonal size at 10ft... will give only 26.99 degrees in horizontal, and 20.41 degrees in vertical. When our field of view is something around 180* horizontal and 90* vertical. It's still looking through the straw.
It is interesting but I won't recommend buying it without previous testing.

very nice bit of kit and i do need a monitor for the pc i'm building
Looks like a cool Xmas toy
doesn't look bad either:

though, the price tag maybe way beyond the average credit line.
Anyway it's good to see that he number of manufacturers rises and technology improves. Means bigger bang for the buck

I am Sensics of Borg. Resistance is futile... :rofl
That would be kick ass if it didn't look like you had industrial panels stuck to your head. Also need to drop a 0 off the pricetag. Someone needs to come up with a decent design that isn't combersome and has FOV and resolution that doesn't cost as much as a car. I'd have to assume this will be military driven technology. Imagine augmented technology glasses with infared night-vision built in hooked to a pocket sized computer much like the uPC.
Maybe in a decade we'll see augmented technology glasses that actually look like glasses.

True, BHawthorne. Just by looking at the web site I would give it a 1-10 comfort rating of 3, a nerd warning rating of 9, a bank-account alert rating of 10, and a likely hood of buying one rating of less than 1. It's without a doubt industrial, military, and VR research material, but it does set me to dreaming...
