Anyone interested in my Thrustmaster Cougar with Ian J's excellent NXT gimbals mod, metal speedbrake and dogfight switches, Cubby's precision Hall Sensor potentiometers and RedDog's custom made Cougar faceplate incl. the serial numbers of the Kitty and NXT mod engraved on the plate. All in practically as good as new condition and well maintained!

Asking $700 O.B.O.

Why, oh WHY would you even consider parting with THAT!?!?

hi landwart !! .... question...... from the perspective as an aerobatic pilot...
why not good anymore ? ....... i guess u switch to sensor mod...but how you would qualify this one for formation capabilities...

maybe someone could be interested :)

I would be interested in the link for the gimbals mod though for my Cougar.

The guts of my nearly new Cougar are badly worn from NO lubrication from the FACTORY. I started getting more and more SLACK in the stick Y axis and upon busting the cherry of the bottom plate was agasp of a half teaspoon of aluminum grindings hitting the table top. Applied lith grease CURASING EVERY BREATH and used pliers to forcably clamp the spacing back as best I could.

Looks like what you have done is the true fix for the problem.

Awfully nice device but since I have already invested in one I'll have to try and upgrade what I have.

You better keep it or you'll have bad dreams.

Ok, I'll try to address everyone's questions here.

Oh, it is definitely good. For those who haven't guessed already, I'm a perfectionist and this mod is as good as when it was new. From an aerobatic standpoint it is a DREAM STICK. Silky smooth spring forces, optimal control and the Hall Sensors are hundreds of times more precise than the stock potentiometers. If precision and smooth resistance is what you're looking for, this stick is IT!

Reason I'm parting with it is because I'm downscaling my flight simming at the moment and I already have two other Cougars (this being my third Cougar). I currently fly with a Force Sensor Stick Base (R2) and since I'm a huge F-16 fan, it closely resembles the actual stick in the Viper, able to produce 25 lbs of force in the y-axis and 17 lbs of force in the x-axis, just like the real deal. If I wasn't biased because of the Viper, I'd say the NXT is better suited for optimal control in aerobatics or any kind of precision flying. It's basically the way you always dream your gimbal based stock Cougar would perform!!!

I'll truthfully be sad to see it go, but hopefully it will serve someone else better than being packed up in my storage.

Why, oh WHY would you even consider parting with THAT!?!?

Currently collecting dust in its box in the closet, while I already have two other Cougars and I'm likely taking personal time away from flight simming, due to real life events (involving real airplanes and family etc).

You could always buy it and sell your other stick on eBay. :wink2:

Does the HCCP software work with this stick modified like it is in the same manner as a conventional Couger? I'm thinkin. I'm tempted.

As far as i Know nothing is changed on the sofware side. you only need to calibrate the stick like with the pots and everything goes like with the original cougar.

but not sure I have an FCC2 mod installed and that was a bit different:)

It is really good buy. If i had the money I would buy it.:thumb:

Yes. Plug and play, same software!

Is the price for the stick only or is the TQS included?

The Cougar is an integrated system. Cannot be sold seperately. No meaning of doing so.

So the FCS and the TQS is assume as included. (I have never seen any offer as selling separately those 2)

A (HOTAS) Cougar is both the stick and throttle. Other wise the HOTAS accronym would be just HOS (Hand On Stick).

When purchasing, I like to hear it said and not assume anything.

Fair enough :wink2:

I'd love a Cougar ... It just costs too much for me these days

Yes, it's a complete HOTAS system with everything included in its original box.

Does the TQS have the Halls as well?

No, just the stick. (Only mods on the throttle are the metal switch casings).

The message thread is quite old. Are you still interested in selling this. The thread previously became TOO CLUTTERED with posts from people who had no interest in purchasing your Cougar but wanted everyone to know how much they knew about them. They screwed your post.

Do you still have it and are you still interested in selling?

Yes (still have it), yes (I'll still sell for a good offer)! :wink2:

Just wanted to give a little positive feedback to Lawndart here. I purchased the setup and it was honestly a bit unsettling just sending someone out a check and using only your judgment you don't get burned. Especially when its a private transaction with no credit card or Paypal type buyer protection.

If you ever do any business with Kris he is a real pro and definately a man of his word. It arrived in condition better than I ever expected. Guys like this are a credit to our flight sim community and their respective virtual squadrons.

Thanks Kris! I hope to give it many years of use.

Thanks Lagoda, you're too kind. Hope you're enjoying the stick!
