Hey guys, just letting you know we are implementing a new subscription system for Area51 along with a brand new website (which is literally just around the corner).
The new system is integrated into the forums. You must have registered a forum user name before purchasing Area 51 membership (when the new website comes online you will be able to do this right from the front page). There are two ways to purchase or renew your Area 51 membership. If you select the Area51 membership option from the menu of the new website you will have the option to purchase an Area 51 membership (provided you are not already a member), you can also access the same subscription page from within the forums by selecting User CP and then Paid Subscriptions.
For existing Area 51 members- You can renew your Area 51 membership at any time by either clicking on the Area 51 menu item on the main page of the new website, or by going to the User CP in the forum and selecting Paid subscriptions. If you are an existing Area 51 member you will have two options -
1. is a $20 renewal with automatic re subscription, this sets up an automatic renewal in paypal so that every year your account will automatically get renewed unless you choose to cancel it within paypal.
2. Manual $20 renewal. This as the name suggests is for those who would prefer to manually renew their membership.
Please note that you must renew prior to your membership expiring to get the $5 discount, obviously if you select the automatic option, there is nothing to worry about and you can just cancel the renewal at any time from within your paypal account. You can set up a renewal at any time during your membership, the extra 12 months will be adjusted to start at the end of your current membership period.
On the new website, the overall look won't be much different to the current site, however the functionality is greatly improved. You will no longer have to log in to Area 51 each time, the website uses the same membership system as the forum, so as long as you have cookies active for the fighterops site, it will know who you are and what you have access to. Clicking on screenshots with the new website will automatically present Area51 members with the full range of screenshots, and non-Area 51 members with the shots they are cleared to see. This sort of functionality is true also for all of the other pages, discount banners are tailored for your membership level, etc etc.
