I installed a gigabyte G60 mobo.
Now the issue I have is the following.
I have a powerconnection on my GFX card, which I'm using the normal square 4-plug to power it.

But there also seems to be one that I can plug a normal 4-plug (like power to HD) into my mobo that supply's extra power to my GFX card through the mobo itself. Would it hurt if I tried that?
Kind of afraid to damage my GFX card which is a 6800GS.

Thx,

Dirk

6800GS sounds like Gainward.. only the black power connector usually. At least NEVER twice power...but best u check mobo and gfx descriptions or net.

It's little off topic but it's about graphic card as well. If anyone is interested in R600 he should know that it has been released.:evils:

I doubt it would hurt if you tried. I THINK... the worst that'll happen is it won't work.

However. My own GFX card needs extra power from the PSU, so I had to connect one of the power cables from the PSU to the GFX card. It usually has a white semi-transparent plastic piece around the four pins.

I didn't try it yet but I'm just looking for new GFX card.
