So, I got FSX and a new rig, nothing really fancy.
Intel Dual Core 2 x 2,4 ghz
1 meg ddrII 800 mhz ram
Gforce 7950 GT 512 meg
Asus P5Be MoBo
Reading all over the internet that the fps and playability is a nightmare, even with systems comparable with mine. I dont know what the fuss is all about.
Everything at +- 80%, fps around 17-20, even in the dense areas.
I will execute some tweaks and will end with around 20 fps at the least.
Im curious who has problems with FSX with a similar type of system.
Glad to hear things are working ok. You should test it out in dense cities such as Seattle Washington. I've tweaked up my sim, without using FPS tweaks (I don't wanna reduce graphics quality) and I'm staying about 20 FPS in major cities, around 27 - 30 in backcountry. I've cranked out all my sliders within the custom settings, including autogen, and thanks to a little CFG modding, I'm all good ;-). The trick is, some CFG files limit your video card bandwidth, and your buffer pool size. If you increase some of these settings, along with a few other things, FSX runs like it should. I'm exited to see what it'll be like on Vista.
My System is not less strong but i was not satisfied with the performance.
So i found this http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/FSX_FPS_Guide and did excatly what he describes, and it helped ALOT.

Could you roughly indicate what the fps increase was with all of the above mentioned tweaks used ?

here i posted thumbs with FPS indication. EX: The standart landing mission (insbruck with bad weather, hills, fog, snow and lot trees) was not possible for me b4 but after the tweak no problem.
Glad to hear your able to run FS X well, I wanted to ask are you using Vista or XP ?,
Kind Regards James (Lowblow)
