Hey guys, as some of you may be aware, I've been fairly heavily involved in the Poker scene, both live tournaments and online. Recently I presented an idea to one of my sponsors regarding doing a private poker tournament for Fighterops forum members and visitors. The good news is that they were sold on the idea, so here are the details:
You will soon see a couple of small logos on the main page for Titan Poker and Pokerstars, two of the biggest online poker rooms. Titan poker have allowed us to set up a private tournament with FREE entry to all who visit from this forum. We will have some good prizes on offer, depending on the number of people who are interested, but at the least $50 cash, plus we'll do something along the lines of a free Area 51 membership or 1 year extension for existing members for anyone who is able to knock out nominated players from the tournament. To gain entry to this tournament you must either use the link from the main page, or go direct to www.titanpoker.com and enter the codeword "area51" where it asks for the bonus code. Doing this will also entitle you to an extra bonus should you decide to open a cash account, normally Titan offer a 50% bonus on your first deposit up to a $200 maximum, ie if you deposit $100 they'll give you an extra $50, for anyone who uses the "area51" codeword (and you do not have to be an Area 51 member to do so) you will get a 100% bonus up to a maximum of $500, so if you deposit $100 you get an extra $100, $500 gets you an extra $500, so a very cool offer. Now remember to get these, you MUST use the area51 codeword, also remember you do not have to deposit to play in the fighterops tournament. Unfortunately US based members are not able to set up a cash account at Titan poker, but I am working with them to see if you will still be allowed to play the free tournament, if that doesn't work out the second site, pokerstars does allow US based members to play for cash.
If the tournament at Titan is popular, we can also run a second one at Pokerstars.com, however they cannot offer us a free entry. The smallest entry fee we can have is $5.50 with $5 going into a prizepool to be won by the players. This would be open to US based players as well as anyone else worldwide. They are also offering a 100% bonus up to $50 for the first deposit if you use the link on the main page, or this link (http://www.pokerstars.com/?source=fighterops.com).
Each site has varying terms and conditions on the bonus money, so check with the site if you decide to make a deposit, but most importantly you must use the links and bonus words in this thread to get access to the bonus cash and the Fighter Ops tournaments.
Please give feedback on how many are interested in this, it's basically intended as something a little different for a bit of fun and interaction between the XSI staff and you guys, as well as another way for you all to win some cool prizes etc. There is no date set for the tournaments yet, I'll wait and see how many are interested and what sort of locations so we can find the best timing to set it up, also the more interested, the bigger the prizes will be. In the meantime check out the sites, you can download the software for free and start practicing with the free games at each site.
