I’ve had FSX since it came out but didn’t play with it after I was a bit disappointed by the fps and the fact my old addons didn’t work anymore. But I followed several fps guides and got it at a decent fps, now my main problem is getting my fs9 addons to work with fsx. I know a few files have been changed around such as the aircraft folder is now in the SimObjects folder, so I have to direct it there. But each time when I install one of my old planes I get some sort of error such as this:

Before FSX came out, Microsoft said it was going to be backwards compatible, that certainly does not look like its compatible. If it won’t work with fs9 addons, I guess I can understand it, but recently I installed an aircraft made for FSX: Captain Sim - Space Shuttle, and a sound warning (something .gau file similar to the picture above showed up). Why do these errors keep showing up?

When I had FSX demo I installed some of my FS9 aircraft but I can't exactly remember how I did it. Try to follow the folder names - I remember that they are separated in FSX, not like in FS9 that everything went to "Aircraft" folder.

 Does my post make any sense? Sorry it's New Year's Day... thank god Firefox has built in spell check

I would hit "Run", nothing bad should happen, but it's your call

yea i direct it to the SimObjects folder and the rest goes into their effect and gauges folders, i can see the plane in game, but when i select it, it sometimes have those errors poping up. Some don't, most do.

There are some gauge files (written in C => .gau or in .xml) that are not compatible with FSX. I can't give you a list of which aircraft from FS9 are or are not compatible with FSX, but there are issues of compatibility with gauges. The screenshot you showed shows an issue with a gauge file.

this was mentioned on the av forum

Once again, this time a bit louder!

Folks, it is NOT FSX!!!

This is a FEATURE OF WINDOW'S PROTECTION SCHEME!!!

There's not one bloody, blessed thing ACES can do about it...

FS9 did not have this simply because it was originaly designed pre-WinXP, and had no need to comply with the WinXP Protection Scheme...

So i guess there's no way to get rid of it, :nono:
