Allow me to explain one of the worst times my computer has, yet again, scared the crap out of me. I'm posting because maybe somebody can tell me why this happened.

Last night: Clicked start ---> Shutdown ----> went to bed

This morning: I noticed my computer was still on, I turned on my monitor, and saw the memory card reader on my printer wasn't responding, so I clicked end now, and my computer was still on. So I figured well theres no reason to have it off now that I'm awake, tried to open IE7, but my computer froze. So I powered down.

Later this morning: I powered up. Now, the worst thing ever, my BIOS wouldn't flash, at all. I'm sitting here, looking at my

"PHOENIX AWARD BIOS v6.0"
"PROCESSOR: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+"

So I tryed the usual, took the blank CD-RW disk out of the drive, checked for floppy's, turned off my PSU. Nothing was working. Then for the heck of it, I tryed to power down my Printer (plugged in to PC as a USB). It wouldn't power down, and trust me, I know my printer, its a Epson Photo RX500. Since it wouldn't power down I yanked it out of the surge protector, now its off, I booted up my computer, and look at that, BIOS flashed, windows is up.

Please could somebody tell me why this happened, so I can prevent it in the future!

maybe a problem with the USB host Controllers. Plug it back in and see if you encounter the same prob. If yes, try the printer on another computer.
You might want to check the cable, the jack on the mb and try out other usb devices on that jack. other sources of trouble might be the PSU(check voltage in the BIOS) or the mainboard itself(unclean soldering, ripped off capacitor etc.)
