What do you guys think is the best F-18 flight sim? I've been looking around and haven't been able to find a whole lot.

Yup I agree!!!!
Im still playing Janes F/A18. Is the olny Naval sim, nowadays, realistic in avionics and naval procedures.

My vote is for Janes F/A-18, great carrier ops, pretty damn good physics and excellent mission editior. However considering you can play it on a terrible computer pretty well then you would have to give a mention to Hornet Korea.

Any of you guys know where you can buy Jane's F/A-18? The only place I've found it is on amazon.com and even then it's only like 3 used versions. Is there anywhere to buy it as a download?

That would be naughty!

JFA-18 to my knowledge, has no download purchase option... BUT try your local Electronic Boutique or something... Instant Gratification is over-rated anyway... Packaged product is always 'nicer'...

Your best bet is to do a search for it on ebay every now and then. Thats what i did and i managed to get it for a pretty good price. Same for Janes Longbow 2. I got that one for $5+shipping with all the manuals, etc included. Both were in perfect condition.

Great video, awesome cockpit setup too! Not too sure about his final approach though! The LSO's mate probably bet him $20 he couldn't talk the pilot in without using the phrase "you're high".

You are right. He was kind of high, but as they say, got hoocked. The cockpit is really awesome. I wish I could get one for myself but, then again, that would mostly mean divorce hehehe. They even got the damn HUD working.

Janes F-18 was a good one...There was a game( I think) F-18 over Iraq..or something like that.. yeah that was not good..but Janes was a great game.. just wish I hadnt have lost mine.. as well as janes f-15...

There are a couple of Hornet sims out there, theres Janes F/A-18 and theres DIs Superhornet. Superhornet had alot going for it but it was very buggy and the missions weren't tested for the campaigns so they are also very buggy. The deck operations on Superhornet are actually better than Janes F/A-18 as you have to taxi to the cat, unfold wings and lower the launch bar. And follow hand signals from the deck crew, its a real waste about this sim. Landings were more realistic than JF/A-18 as the animation was better. JF/A-18 has come a long way since its release. TSH has created community addons for it to make it better, the Avionics are far more complex than SH but there are no ramp starts or deck crew to run over. There is a mod that allows JF/A-18 and JF-15E to allow Hornet ops in the mid east which is cool. The major drawback is the graphics as it is quite old and a real problem for me. I think its time for a decent Hornet/Tomcat sim, hopefully something in dx9 or 10. Even better would be a carrier ops sim with a Ship/Sub sim addon.

I have the f-18 over iraq game. When I first got it I was just getting into sims and thought it was pretty cool. I just reloaded it to see if it was a good candidate for your request and compared to that video posted by Bonkers, my game sux. If you set yourself up for takeoff from a normal runway, slam on the afterburner, and hold the stick all the way back, you'll take off, do a loop, and land again in perfect condition. The first time I did this I was like, huh??? I mean, it's a perfect landing too. Nice flare, gentle touchdown, the works. Nice flight model, eh?
