I'm trying to have a nice flight in a 747 from kennedy to heathrow and take some nice SS along the way, but engine #3 keeps going out!? I looked at failures and its not there to 'go out' I exited the game, resested the flight and everything and around angels 5 the 3rd engine keeps going out on me! and last time I tried to restart it, everything went haywire and then I stalled out real nasty and boom lol
any ideas?
I've had problems with engines not starting, but never really going out in the middle of a flight. Is it the PMDG 747? You might want to read the manual if it is since theres a lot more simulated in it.
Check the fuel valves and the levels. Make sure the fuel cutoff is off, you can check this in Assignments>Engine controls. Fuel Pumps. Try it with other 4 engine aircraft, if it still happens then it might be with the game; you could reinstall the plane if it's the payware PMDG.
What exactly happens, does it go out a LONG time after starting, or right after it starts....I'm assuming it starts, but it would be a lot easier to solve if it didn't
I'll post if I can think of anything else, but I'm guessing it's with the fuel because FS9 doesn't really simulate failures unless you tell it to...yet.

nope, its the MSFS one... which is weird... oh also my mach IAS shit is all messed up....
http://www.boeing.com/commercial/747family/pf/pf_classics.html
according to boeing, this plane can cruise at .84mach... well according to this game, it's analog speedo ends at 400 lol
which 747 are u talking about?

Hey Razor, you cant expect your jet to fly .84 at sea level. .84's much higher altitudes. So when you're high up there at FL400 or so, you should probably achieve Mach .84 at about 250-350 kts indicated. But nobody goes by indicated up there, since Mach #'s the only one that matters.

nono, I know... I meant at 35,000 MSL lol
so mach is the only thing that matters there huh... how do the ymeasure it?
Here's the other 747:http://www.precisionmanuals.com/html/747400F.htm It's the latest model from them, there's a bunch of other "payware" designers like RealAir, Aerosoft, FSD, Aeroworx, Captain Sim, etc... that make higher quality aircraft compared to default and freewares, the best in commercial airliners are PMDG and Captain Sim. But it's a rip off and I personally would never buy one, I would "borrow" it hehehe.
If it's the FS9 747, then it might be messed up. Go to AVSIM.com and see if you can find the "Aircraft.cfg" file for the default 747, which might fix it. Or see if you can find the whole default aircraft in there; if you need help installing it just post. You can also reinstall the game as a last resort, I wouldn't do it because mine is very modified and would be a pain having to install all the stuff again, but if you have just a few small things then you can go for it.

the game froze and right before that I got a msg in FMS saying engine 3 oil pres low
I think something ismessed up withing the game... i hate to reinstall cuz of all my afcads, custom planes and stuff :(
It's probably something wrong with the game if it's still shutting down or working too diffrently from other engines. It could be anything within the game, most likely a problem with one of the CFG files that works with aircraft or engines. Reinstalling might be the best option since it it would take care of the problem and clean it all up. Make sure you install the 9.1 patch BEFORE you put all the addons on the game:http://fsinsider.com/downloads/

I actually bought their entire 737 series and red all the manuals.. something like 400 pages. Then I was taught to fly it by a current 738 pilot... From the on, sim flying was the best thing. After about 6 months of practice on the sim, I went to ALTEON Training Center (a Boeing training branch) and flew their 737 BBJ Level D (16 million dollar stuff  ) simulator for 2 hours with a friend of mine, and my bro onboard as an observer... Guess what, I went through the entire startup (with FMS) from cold and dark to taking off, climbing out on a SID and horrible weather. Then shooting an approach back to LAX on a STAR and doing a few landings... And complete shutdown to cold and dark again!!! Mostly on my own. I'll say that because I also learned a whole bunch of real life habits from the instructor onboard, and he taught me to use the IRS system, since it is not simulated on PMDG's version. But I'll tell you what, it was really fun doing it. I even did a barrel roll on that thing. I'll tell you what... that 737 that I flew in ALTEON seemed more maneuverable than 172s !!
Either way... Here's a video of my landing... Yes I shouldn't have asked that many questions but I couldn't help  .

Hope you enjoy..

Nice stuff Funky... :thumb:
Thanks bud!
I can tell you that flight was definitely worth the money I payed for it, and I learned to appreciate the cockpit door! Man if it wasn't there, I bet some front row passenger would have a heart attack every flight! There's just too many alarms and warnings and bells going off in that little room  .
I wrote out an entire report on my experience that AVSIM was supposed to publish, but it just never happened. However, I still have it at hand, in case anybody wants to see it.
Be aware, it is 9 pages long, but its not that bad of a reading :wink2: .

Well, you can usually get the sim for $150 an hour (I mean the whole sim with instructor)... If you want to go with me, let me know... I may be able to make it an even better deal :evils:. Remember though, I would suggest you have some serious knowledge over the systems of the airplane you want to go fly. They have MD-11, MD-80, B-717, 737-200, and a 737-700. I would personally not fly anything other than the 700, just because when I go there, I don't want a ride, I want to FLY it. If any of you guys live around Long Beach, let me know and that way we can get together and practice what we want to do and stuff...
As far as the report, well to be honest, they showed a lot of interest. However, I was sort of lazy about it, and other things got in my way of completing the whole thing. You know, school, work and other real life stuff. So at 9 pages, its still not finished  .
Also, you guys should check this thread also... Looks like Fatboy had some fun on an F-18 sim!

yeah i read that thread, that lucky bastard!
for 150 bux an hour, i'd prolly do it (def if we cn get it cheaper) BUT there is no way in hell i'm flying to california to do that lol
who does this? the simulation deal that is... boeing?
oh, and if I went, i'd be flying the 737-700, 747-400 if they had one :( I'm getting pretty familiar with'em now
The company's name is ALTEON, and it is a branch of Boeing, so yes it is Boeing.
Over here, they only have the ones I mentioned, and a cool guy who signs people up on the free times of the simulators :evils: ... not sure about your place :finger:.
And hey Razor, I don't even know where you live to be able to help you, but if you complete your profile, then maybe I can find out if there's an ALTEON over there. Not sure about the price though...
Funky
For full fledged aircraft endorsements, Alteon certainly aren't known for being the cheapest in the industry.
The deal Funky talks about though sounds like a lot of fun at those prices.

hmmm they have a 777 there too :D
I dont know how it works in other places. In here I know this guy who lets me book flights. Or I guess he'd do that for anybody with a clean background check.
