Anyone looked into http://www.aimsworth.com for their pit?

It's one solution, apparently they are not technically accurate, so if you want to buy one to later modify with real avionics etc, then you will be disapointed from what I am told.
Just depends on what you want, I'd certainly be pretty happy with one, but if you want realism, and have the money to pay for it, real simulator, www.realsimulator.com (http://www.realsimulator.com) is the only way to go.

I actually had an Aimsworth pit a few years back, well before I was caught up with Fighter Ops… and even though it sat in the garage for the most part, “mainly because I had limited time.” But the time I did invest into it was well worth it. I eventually ran out of room, and then combine that with the wife starting to breathe down my neck… so I decided to just give it away to someone that could put it to good use over at the SimHQ forums. As soon as I announced it was free of charge there was literally a truck waiting in my driveway (Hehe). I was glad to se it go to a good home, “I think”…I do wish I still had it every now and then…

Wow, someone had an early xmas that year. :thumb:
Yeah Buckshot, the only thing that looked real interesting to me from aimsworth was the USB compatible ICP/MFD/CU.. I was just a little disappointed in the fact that the MFD's display's aren't functional.

I ordered a set of stickers for my pit from aimsworth. I had to get a refund because I never got them.
Later on I ordered a complete set of functional gauges from Aimsworth. I also had to get a refund because for what ever reason they could not deliver them.
On Frugals World a member gave me the below links to Viperpit.org
Some of these people where not satisfied with the quality of the products. Too bad because there is limited places to get certian things for the pit. Aircraft Simulators where I got my panels is not there anymore, I was pleased with the quality. Real Simulators seems to have had quality products but doesn't produce them anymore. Manual from RS just emailed me & told me that they are going to offer a pit for the general public later on this spring but I don't know about individual parts for the pit builder.

If you have just a little bit of skill and a few tools, you can build a very accurate cockpit using the stencils which you can order at: http://www.viperpit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=765
thanks Venom .. those stencils look awesome, I've jsut sent Killin an email asking a few more details ...
What do guys do for the instruments once they have built these pits? ie there appear to be a lot of holes for stuff to go in but no mention of what would go in there?? (sorry if that sounds like a really dumb question but what i mean are what options are available for gauges and switches etc?)
There are many options for the empty spaces.
Spend some time at viperpits.org and you'll see
you can also get a peek my clicking on the link in my sig. ;)

The Aimsworth pit is a bit of a nightmare to work on not to mention "anatomically incorrect" (don't even get me started on the stickers - a bad idea from the get go). With Killin's plans now available building the pit (or commisioning it to be built) is more cost effective and far more accurate.
As for what goes in the holes; F-16 gauges, knobs and switches. If you're building a Viper then a quick glance at a cockpit diagram will provide info on what goes where. That's why all the holes you see cut out in the pictures are all pretty much the same from pit to pit (in the case of the F-16).
If you plan on building a Multi-Pit (ie: a pit that would work for various aircraft) then take all this advice, throw it out the window and check out some of the general aviation sites. They have great options for "generic" cockpits.
