I just got this thing (8.32 with the world dvds) today, and must be doing something seriously wrong, because the controls are so sensitive it's ungodly. Pitch is especially bad - just a few degrees of movement bounces the bird all over the sky. Heck, even the Cessna 172 is so jittery that it makes Falcon4's F-16 FM look like a B-52.

So far, this sim just isn't impressing me.... Even though my comp is just about as powerful as they come, it seems that X-plane can barely run with mediocre graphics settings. Heck the thing tells me that I need over 1GB of video memory just to run at 1600x1200.

The cockpits in particular strike me... now, I know I've probably been spoiled by Aeyes and Dr Stop's awesome work for F4, but the default 'pits in X-Plane are horrid. Half of the instruments aren't even readable because they're so low-res.

Really hoping that I'm missing something big... :nono:

I had a CH products yoke and I thought it was perfect. I was a flight
instructor, so I know. I haven't played with the sim since version 7, but I
thought the flight model was very good. The 172 was great for IFR training.

Now, there is a patch to udate your sim, I recomend you do that.

Make sure you go through all your settings. Check your joystick and check
the sim. If you want a good game and fun, it's MSFS. If you want a training
tool, it's all about x-plane.

I think you both are right.
It's horrid in some things and great in others. I'm so tired of yucky cockpits in there.
Be sure to make your joystick less responsive, for me that's in the cougar control center. Also, some flight stabilized models (fly by wire) just suck and you might want to start looking for that one payware plane that you can stick to mostly...they tend to be better.
Jason Chandler makes some good stuff for under ten bucks I think. I bought his lifeflight helo a while back and it was good for the time. Now I'm using TrackIR and I hate all the floating 2d panels where a 3d pit outta be.

I think X-Plane 9 needs to whipe the slate clean in terms of aircraft. I'd be
happy if they just had 10 really good aircraft. The flight models in the game
are great, but if you fly in 3d mode you start to hate life. Though, the sim
is great for Helicopters.
