whew!
now they just need to improve the weather so that it looks as good as it does in FS2004 + Active Sky 2004 mod. But without the need for the mod. I fly FS2004 now with the Active Sky add-on and it is simply the most realistic weather i've seen period. it really adds like 70% to the immersion of really being up in the air.

here's a few screenshots from some of my flights in FS2004 with Active Sky Running....

 Nice...
yea, i love the anvilhead thunderclouds you get. it helps adds situational awareness since you actually have to pay attention to the weather and make sure you don't fly into "bad" territory. really cool constantly looking to the left and saying "uh, yea, we don't want to fly over there"....you simply don't get that in any other sim. the one in that second YF-23 picture (flying with my brother in the black widow variant) was constantly spouting off lightening as you could see it flashing in the distance. we both radio'd each other and said "no thanks."
i've always felt weather was just as important for a combat simulation as the combat AI and campaign engine itself, since the weather can cause situations where it dictates the success of your mission, or causes you have to make last-minute decisions in the air based on impending weather situations...
the active-sky add-on pulls live info from their server that pulls I believe from NOAA or one of those other real-time weather sources.
I haven't flown since i moved so im curious to see how the new v6.0 update looks.
cheers!

If so this will be the first Microsoft FS that i buy. I hope the FM's will be as nice as the gaphics are:tongue:

Man, the next to last picture in that xplane set, with the sunset creeping into the clouds...whew.
