Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to say hi to the LOMAC community who is eagerly waiting for the unknown release of FO. I know I am!!
I am part of an aerobatic team called The Virtual Blue Angels. If you have not heard of us we take after the Navy's Blue Angels. Thought our site might be of interest for some of the LOMAC pilot's in this community.
We are all looking foward to the possible switch from LOMAC to FO. Hope to see you in the skies of Fighter Ops asap.

Well, we are building the F-16 and we will be operating out of Nellis, the Home of the Thunderbirds. Maybe a name change to the " FO Virtual Thunderbirds" might be in order.

Great stuff. I especially like your trailer movie. None of the shaky and blurred effects that the Virtual Thunderbirds use. It really makes for a great movie. I coudn't watch the whole Thunderbirds movie due to the shaky camera. It made my eyes bleed. Your movie is smoooooth. Keep at it. You guys have some skill. Especially with the touchy LOMAC flight model.

LOL,

I just registered the name "FO Virtual Thunderbirds" Today so we can have it when we start using Fighter Ops as our sim. Well Hope you guys get the Hornet done for the VBA, here soon after the first release, cant have one team flying one sim and having another fly the other, and Nice Job on the VFAT Airshow I watched it from start to finish, Great stuff!!!

I was responding specifically to Brutis' message indicating a possible switch from LOMAC to FO.

Yes, I know what the Blue Angels fly. A flyable F/A-18 will not be in the first FO release though. Hence the reason I mentioned a name change. The first virtual demonstration teams that fly FO will be limited to the flyable aircraft which will be the F-16, the T-38, and the T-6.

Flying the F-16, the T-38, or T-6 while calling yourselves the Blue Angels would look a little funny.

Sounds good.

We will build a flyable Hornet eventually though not for the first release. Hopefully it will be built sooner rather than later.

Its very impressive to see virtual formation displays and it doesnt matter wich plane the team is flying!

Agreed. Personally, if I was in a virt squadron for FO shortly after release I would like to fly the T-6.

lol, I can see trouble here:bigsmile: , I think the Blue Angels might have to wait for the land based Hornet.:thumb:

Yes.

Ultimately, it's just a question of when the Hornet comes. The F/A-18 Hornet is very popular and I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being one of the first flyables after the initial release.

Don't quote me on that though. That's an educated guess.

That just screams "Roulettes"!

Yep. The T-6 and PC-9 are similar enough that it would work.

Anyone interested in setting up an "FO Virtual Roulettes" team?

us vaaf'er would prolly mess around with roulettes when we get bored

How do you go about becoming one of the demo pilots (LOMAC..FO...)? When FO comes out...are you going to have certian requirements for the demo pilots?

they thunderbirds can start flying right away with the T-38 since the real Thunderbirds have flown that sexy aircraft too in their old days. They switched from the JP Fuel Slugger F-4 to the less fuel consumtioning T-38.

Hehe - I think we'll stick with the name "Virtual Blue Angels", and just wait for the flyable F/A-18

I'm sure we'll start flying FO's F-16 as soon as it's released to get used to the new flight dynamics, but we won't do any shows, movies, or screenshots until the F-18 is released.

Of course the real Blue Angels fly the F/A-18A model - not sure which Hornet version is planned for FO? The F/A-18E is gaining popularity in the real world, but would look pretty wierd as a Blue Angel jet with it's big leading edge root extensions and square intakes.

Anyway, glad you guys enjoyed the VBA video trailer - keep a look out for the full movie coming soon :wink2:

Hey Kato, welcome to the forums (u were in the 169th?)

I'd take a guess at it being the C & D models being done based on the info that is available for them vs the Super Bug.

Certainly is nice to see such a community involved in the FO Forums. As Kato had mentioned thank you for the compliments.
Shatterer, I would hope that in a later release wether the F-18 is land based or carrier based (don't tease me) there should be close to the full array of models. Considering they are all still in service, trainers or not. Not implying of course to make them all flyable but with the SDK tool I'm sure we could mod an AI F-18/A to take over the E flight model. Then we could fly an exclusive demo show for the FO team. Heheh.
Keep up the good work and just about EVERYONE who is in the flight sim community is waiting for your master piece.

Hey Cobra - thanks for the "welcome aboard", and yep, I was in the 169th for a while when Lomac started up (Nov 03, I believe).

I've been with the Virtual Blue Angels since about March 04, and we're really looking forward to FO and a more accurate flight model

If the A model is created it will have it's own Flightmodel.
The "E" and "A" variants flightmodels differ quite some.

Pacman,
Good correction in my wording but the point I was trying to get across was that it should be possible for us to use an "A" model skin. That's all we need. Of course if we could use the "A" flight model instead of the "E", just one more reason why we want to change over to FO.
