View Full Version : lightning / thunder in forum banner
is it at all possible to have a cookie / setting / switch to turn off the thunderclap when the mouse goes over the forum header???
I sh1t myself every time i leave my speakers on and accidentally roll over the header! :cussing:
While i am dazzled at the brilliance of all of the flash work on this site :thumb: , this one annoys me the most. :nono:
Any ideas / suggestions?
Its a lot better than it used to be when the sound was activated by the whole banner. I can only suggest you keep your mouse away from the XSI logo.

The most simple solution for one's problem is often the best!!!

First of all, it doesn't disturb me at all. My mouse rarely goes over it but if someone would like to turn it off, solution is pretty simple :)
Get Mozilla Firefox 1.5 d/l "Adblock" extension and block it, easy!

Oh ya, I forgot about that adblock extension...I only think about it when I'm blocking ads.
Done!

I can't believe that such a little thing being bitched about by so few has lead to the removal of the thunder sound effect from the forum. Especially when it is quite simple to TURN DOWN YOUR DAMN SPEAKERS!

I'd call it good customer relations...thanks FO! That annoyed way more than a few...turn up speakers while listening to winamp, surf on over to FO, *CRAAASH!* oh ya, I forgot to watch where the cursor was.
Not hard to understand at all, I'd say.

Holy cow - didn't even know it was disabled now. I have to admit it has freaked me out on the odd occasion too....but I just thought of it as an "Instant Audible Curser Locator Tool" :thumb:
yeah it must have been cached.
did a ctrl-r reload of the main page and it is all gone now.
Gee, I didn't think that such a small request would stir up a hornet's nest ...
I would have been happy for some sort of cookie or forum setting so that those who liked their daily adrenaline rush could leave it on, and others could switch it off...
Maybe if the overall volume of the sound could be lowered so that it's still there, just not so loud... (sounds like I'm getting too old :wink2: )
But thanks to whoever made the change ... :thumb:
