I know this probably sounds really dumb, but is there anyone out there thats really familiar with HOTAS cougar that could email me and help me to setup my new HOTAS for Falcon 4.0 AF ... ? I really loved flying in the old falcon 4.0, but never had a programable stick setup so its really throwing me for a loop! Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

yeah, can certainly second that, Jagstang makes a very realistic and complete cougar profile.

Just go to Jagstangs site: http://www.falcon40.co.uk/
There is a step by step explanation, how to set-up your HOTAS, with a realistic profile :wink2:

I recently got a Cougar myself, and the Wizards in Foxy really help you out. Also page 306 of the manuel tells you the Block 50/52 HOTAS.

I just got a Cougar for Christmas... what a doozy getting that to work!!! i used Jagstang's (thanks for the link) profiles to get me started (i was otherwise clueless...even as a developer). I made a few keyboard changes though... his profiles removes "return to search" and "target designate". It's on the stick in some modes, but wasn't there in ACM...just when i needed it most. :) Next goal is to figure out changes (trivial, of course) to the HOTAS directly. Sooooo, good luck tifftigress.

You shouldn't need them at all... in all other modes TMS-UP and TMS-DOWN take care of those functions, and ACM they simply aren't used.

Yep, you'll find that Jagstangs profile is pretty much spot on the real jets profile, if it doesn't work that way in the jet you are supposed to be simulating, why would you want to make it work differently?

I Agree Buckshot. I use Jagstangs and it is as close as you can get to the real thing based on the limitations of a sim.

Very interesting... I want to keep it as realistic as i can. Rookie question...especially for you Haole... in training mission on the AMRAAM i first face two Mig 25's and two 29's close to them. how to i use that flippin' radar? I start off in TWS where i can see them (40mi default) when i switch to missile mode (dogfight sw down) i can't launch. if i switch to dogfight w/ eegs, i can sometimes immediately get a lock. however, i can't do it w/o labels coz i've been having to use boresight to get the lock. any better training info anywhere other than that mission? thanks for any help
Hey HungSolo I think I know the answer to that one, switch to ACM mode and click OSB above overide to enable the radar. Now you should have vertical scan with auto aquisition.(thats for the WVR part). For BVR I use TWS and use the 120s once I reach burn through.

I've kinda sorta been doing that. I can knock down the first 4 out of 4 when labels are turned on. i can only get two w/o labels. Guess i'll have to work on that some more. :) Thanks for the input... i appreciate any advice that keeps a missile out of the lower lumbar region. (sorry if this posts twice... got a 404 after "post" button)
