I'm a brand new member to this forum. Is there anyone in here that can make a sig for me using the downloadable banner on this site? I've no clue how to do it myself and don't have photoshop to boot.
Thanks,
Gator
Hey welcome aboard man!
I haven’t even made my own, but since I have Photoshop on my other computer I'll give you a hand. Just let me know which one you want, what you want on it, and anything else you want me to know. BTW, don’t forget to give me your email address too.
Funky
Hey Cool Funky , thx thx.
The banner is on the downloads page in Area 51 downloads. Can ya just put Gator on it the same fashion as the rest of the font on the banner. Maybe white lettering?
I'll defer to you judgement, beggars can't be choosers!
How does your setup run? Do you run Falcon AF? I'm building a machine after the first of the year. Only diff is I'm getting 4400 x2.
My email add is rossbowditchatcomcast.net
Thanks again.
Gator
Hey What's up Gator,
I'll download the banner as soon as I get a chance.. (between now to a couple of days). After that I'll keep in touch with you thru email till we get to what you're looking for.
About my rig... well, I LOVE IT
The system runs great and the CPU's relatively cool without water-cooling. The most it gets on demanding periods (like when playing FS9 or BF2) is 53-55 deg C, which is a good thing.... that's with lots of fans in the rig. For example, I got a front 12cm fan, a back 12cm fan, a side 9cm fan, and a thermaltake dual fan PSU (that sucks in unbalievable amount of air out). I also have two mini fans on my mobo that suck the air from the bottom of the CPU right out the tower ( the fans are placed at where the onboard GFX plugs would have been). Something else is that the fans on the PSU are a bit loud, but I think its totally worth it, plus, there is a knob for them to be turned down to lower RPM. I have 3 more fans, one on the CPU, GFX, and one that's on my Nforce 4 chipset on the mobo that came with it. Enough fan talk
Now I love my Tsunami case! The blue fan lighting and the cooling is great, especially with the nice small red lights behind the mobo they make a nice harmony. The fan guard/filters keep a lot of dirt/junk away from my cards, and that's a BIG plus when you have birds in the house. There's only one problem with the case... if you have too many hard drives, then you might not want this case, as the large 7800 or 6800 cards come all the way to your hard drive compartment. I'll put pictures up for that. The hard drive compartment has noise reducing rubber pieces, and its easily removable. The Floppy/utility compartment is also removable. I have 4 CD drive compartments with easy release function. I have 2 of them filled with drives and one is taken by my GURU panel that came with the mobo.
About CPUs, if I were to get one RIGHT NOW, I would get the 4400 X2, as it’s cheaper. When I got my 4200 the 4400 was about $150 more expensive than 4200. And I also got a deal on my CPU GFX combo. I got My 4200 and 7800 GTX OC for $1000, which saved me $100. My 4200 is working better than great for me. Heck, we're even expecting better performance when things go 64 bit, and when they start using the second core. So no upgrades are needed here anytime soon.
My mobo is a good mobo too. Works cool and fast and its nice looking too. The downside of it however, is that getting it to work might be a hassle if you haven’t done this before. You might have some bios problems in the beginning, but drop me an email and I'll help you out. Also the Guru panel that comes with it is good for monitoring all the temps around your board and APU. You can also over clock your system through it, but I havent tried it yet. It also has a CMOS reset button, in case you f'ed up your bios.
The graphics card is LOVELY. It was the fastest on the market when I bought it. I have the XFX 7800 GTX OC. Now days BFG's making OC models too, and those also come as far as mine has. Don’t have any problems with the graphics, nor the drivers here. But I'm not the tweaky kind that likes to go mess with everything. I use my computer without OCing it or weirdly tweaking any drivers or anything and it works without problems.
I started out with the sound card that came with the mobo, and it actually wasn’t on board, it was a PCI-E x 1 card that even had 7.1 support, but since my ears were too used to the Sound Blasters and Audigies from my previews PCs, I just couldn’t handle the noise that card was giving me, so I switched to Audigy 2, and in fact I got another $50 rebate on that… so far this card rocks, but all I use it for is to play games and no special audio work. Today you can even buy the new X-Fi card that’s the next generation after Audigy 2, but they’re expensive… I think audigy 2 would do as good.
I have 2 gig of PC 3200, dual channel OCZ ram with heat spreaders, and I’m pretty happy with them. I was originally gonna go with 4 gig, but many told me it would be overkill, so I just went with 2.
What else would you care to know about… hmm… I’ve got a BenQ DVD writer that can burn pretty much anything in the existence, with all the bells and whistles, and a normal DVD ROM.
I was going to attach some pictures of my PC, but everybody’s asleep right now, so I can’t really go out there, grab the camera, take pictures, import them on the other computer, transfer the files, and post them. First it would wake everybody up, and second, it’s already 3:30 am and I have to wake up at 9 tomorrow, so I have to get to bed. I'll post the pictures tomorrow.
If you want I can also show you a copy of my digital receipt from Newegg so you can check out exactly what I have on my PC. With this configuration, I have plenty of space for upgrades. I’ll be adding 2 gig more ram by the release of Fighter Ops. I’m planning on adding another 7800GTX and go SLI by 2007, which is also gonna add 2 more fans to my system. Definitely a different hard drive by the end of 2006, since I accidentally bought a 160gig ATA HDD when I was building my rig, and definitely a hi-speed drive, by mid 2006. Although I don’t currently need to, I can at anytime upgrade to 4800 X2, and that’s about as far as I can go with this setup, until I do an overhaul, which would be by 2008-9.
And my monitor has a pretty good story behind it. I currently have a 19” triple channel + audio (Dual DVI and a single HD-15) Sonny LCD screen. You can go anywhere within 170 degrees around, or up and down and no change in the screen with this thing (good choice for graphics design). And guess how much I got it for... $180  . The monitor was $600, but why I got it for so cheap? Well, I leave that to your imagination.
Now just for the record, I build my rig on August.
Well after all I don’t want you to think I’m bragging about anything here, especially since both of us know that your rig’s gonna be better anyways…
Funky's Buggin out,
Damn...That rig must sound like Mission Control!
