Hey guys, nice site, we are the Iron Eagles from F-22 L3. I have a few questions as our squad is currently trying Falcon 4.0 Allied Force.

#1 Is there a Multiplayer Lobby utility that can be used to find sessions? Y'know like Gamespy or any others?

#2 Is there anyway to skin the tails so we can have our unit crest on the plane?

#3 How do you lower gear without the damn things jamming or breaking?

Please understand I am NEW to the game. Any help would be appreciated.

#3 How do you lower gear without the damn things jamming or breaking?

Be sure that your speed is not exceeding 250 knots!

Good luck out there :thumb:

1. on the LP site I believe there is a list of servers available, and otherwise you will certainly find one in the www.frugalsworld.com (http://www.frugalsworld.com/) forums.

2. I believe that this is not possible at the moment LP is quite tightly controlling any modding, regretfully even the skinnig side of things.
When Threep (aka C3PO) sees this thread I'm sure he will correct me if needed.

3. You will find that the gear will break when you go faster then 300 Kts.
Something that may help you to always have the speed is to overfly the runway at about 1200 to 1500 ft at 300 Kts in the direction that you will land on it.
When you are almost completely at the end of the runway extend your airbrakes and make a slow 180° turn to the left (for a left pattern), you will find that your airspeed decreases pretty fast so compensate to remain at 250 Kts. You can start lowering your gear the moment you have extended your brakes and initiated your turn.
Otherwise when you are flying parallel to the runway you can still lower your gear.
It's just a matter on how you want to get into the habbit.
Now keep flying untill you have the treshold about 120 to 140° to your left (aft), then start a decending turn.

This procedure should prevent you from extending your gear at a much too high speed. It is just a basic explaination though.

There is an explaination how the real combat pilots fly their Simulated flame out patterns in Haole's corner in the Area51 website.

Hope this helps.

Dirk

When wil fighter ops be available? My group has been in Novalogic's Lightning 3 for 3 years, they hinted and even worked some with us to try to make and L4, just before they told us "FIXED WING GAMES" don't have a market, and then released all of the BHD, and JO games. We are looking for a good flight sim, and are trying the Falcon AF game. Nova killed all of our servers, and refused to make the game closer to realistic. Ex. 13 tinks, plane still manueverable and shows no damage, then on 14th tink explodes. No Blackout/RedOut, Unreal Countermeasures that never worked. Most of the time you'd just AOA spiral to extend and escape, and dodging missiles was a breeze.

I have seen mixed reviews of AF, and I am downloading the Free Falcon file as we speak. Our site is at http://takeoff.to/ironeagles

Very nice organisation you've got going there :thumb:

The estimate release date for FighterOps is second half 2006.
You can read it in our press release.

You will find that AF and the FreeFalcon patch will not work together.
FreeFalcon is a patch made for the older Falcon 4.0.

Best regards,

Dirk

You're better off with F4AF than FF3 as for Multiplayer AF rocks, FF3 is too much of a hassle and is more likely to have ctds. For Squadron play setting up a dedicated server running a campaign is very cool. You'll have alot of fun but F4AF is much more complex than Lightning 3 so its more of a challenge for your guys to use it.:thumb:
