Just curious to see if anyone has there own home built cockpit, as I'm doing all the research to build mine soon. I'm doing a freelance job that will pay for my Thrustmaster HOTAS setup, then I'll get started. It will be a fun project for me and my boy.

Yeah I'm going to build an F-16. I built a 1/12 model of the F-16 cockpit and will base it off of that. I'm getting the Thrustmaster HOTAS setup soon. I just need rudder pedals. I'm thinking of the CH products pedals but they are narrow. I'd rather get F-16 style pedals but I haven't seen any that's very affordable, I'm on a rather strict budget. If anyone here knows where to get some F-16 style pedals let me know.

I have an A-7C cockpit that I am building back into a D model. I have most of the panels and avionics. If you know of any old Corsair drivers please put me in contact with them?
Here is a pic of my panel. Most of the empty slots are filled with the correct gauges.

Simped Pedals, I'll have to look into those! Thanks!
Gecko6 that's impressive!! an A-7 corsair! Cool!
I've sat in a real KC-135R trainer at Altus AFB when I was a crew chief, this was back in 1997. The graphics didn't look as good as FS2004, but it was a full motion sim.

Perhaps it's because when Thrustmaster came out with that HOTAS setup based after the F-16.
With an F-18 the stick is different. Plus with the F-16 the seat is at a comfortable 30 degrees, that was my big plus about looking into building an F-16 pit.
2 seater is out of the question because of space confinement.

It might be only me, but that 30 degrees in F-16 is everything EXCCEPT comfortable. 17 degrees is what suits me best.
Anyway, Good luck on your simpit :thumb:

It might be you, hehe! just kidding. No really I've sat in an F-16 cockpit while in training in Tech School at Shephard AFB when I was in the USAF. I'm a tall frame, I'm 6'3", and it's very comfortable for me, perfect actually. You should see me driving a car, my seat is waaaay back, I hate sitting straight up. So the F-16 ACES II at a 30 deg. angle is perfect. :thumb:
My brother works on the F-15T for Singapore, he just transfered from the F-16K for Korea. I'd like to build an F-15. But the Thrustmaster controls I'm getting are F-16 based. I'm gathering all my plans and checking out the local stores to see what they have in stock. Lowe's has plenty of MDf and wood, so that's going to be my main store to buy from.

Careful with the MDF, the sawdust is toxic.
Good luck, it's a hell of a ride and great fun.

im 5 11" and ive sitting in teh F-16 and i can tell you the seat is very comfortable
but if i ever make a pit it will be a hornet one as theres just so much more room in the hornet and its deeper and i have long legs so thats a plus for me

I'm only 6' and when I'll get some free time I'm going to do the plywood Xpress-Pit designed by Gadget from SimHQ (http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=137;t=000014)forum, but a little modified to meet my requirements :wink2:

Now that's compact!
It's a neat concept that's for sure!
ruprecht thanks for the tip on the MDf sawdust. I have a respirator that I was fitted for when I was in the USAF, so I'll be using that, when sanding.
I want my pit to look very realistic, near the real thing as much as possible. I don't have the electrical know-how to make switches and instruments work, so things will be static, At least until learn how to do them. It just looks way to complex right now.

I know that this is way OT but I would like to know if you would be willing to do some nose art for my pit. I can send the panels to you already painted with the cammo colors. Give you some idea what I am looking for and then let you work your magic. I am sure there will be a cost and we can talk about that offline.
Send me a PM if your interested in such a project?
