View Full Version : Combat Takeoffs
If it isnt against rules to talk about this, may i ask about combat takeoffs when are they used and what is the steps in making that descision. What kind of climb schedule do you use to get to alt. Just kinda wondering.
article on haoles corner in area51 on takeoffs...might or might not be what you're looking for.
I just read an article about that on the Belgian air force website (in Dutch). A detachement is now stationed at Kabul, Afghanistan; it said that takeoffs at Kabul are always different to those in Belgium, because of the heat in Afghanistan and the height. But after take-off they always have to stay low and take different routes because there is a chance of portable anti-aircraft weapons. Then they have to gain height as fast as possible and maintian a minimum altitude.
The article is here, but as I said, its in Dutch http://www.mil.be/aircomp/subject/index.asp?LAN=nl&FILE=&ID=597&MENU=904&PAGE=1 ;)

Yeah.....It's pretty much a max climb to whatever their set minimum altitude is atleast. We used to watch them do it all the time out of Kuwait when we flew the No-fly zones back when they actually existed. Nope, I'm not a pilot either.....I'm a maintainer
