various AF campaign questions...

well basically i just started my first campaign (balkans present day) and successfully completed my first mission! trouble starts when the next tasks are put before me, all CAS missions, 1 pre planned and the rest all to be directed by FAC (forget the name of it). So i go through the brefieng for the preplanned CAS...(fast farward 10 mins)...OK i'm on a track to the target area now im wondering...where the bloody hell is my tartget (686th batalion or somthing)!

basically i wonder in CAS missions are the targets literaly at the targget waypoint or just in the general area? I assume that a FAC would direct you to the targets but this being a preplanned CAS the isnt one, so....?

Also are there ways to do proper recon of the area, ie. sat photos or something? I seem to think i have read everything before clicking FLY but i really just dont know cause i only just started!

Well thats about it for now, as you can all see from the name of this thread there will be A LOT more questions in the future im sure, In the meantime i hope u can answer these and even go ahead and add anything you think i may like to no (or need to know) about controling the campaign or what ever...Thanks

For preplanned CAS missions you can ask the AWACs where the target is(vector to target) and don't forget to check in. Sometimes you have to wait a while for the enemy to turn up. As for recon, right click over the area you want to check and click recon then select targets and you should be able to cycle views of all the targets in the area. And if they are moving don't forget to select GMT radar mode.

Just thaught of something...

When starting a campaign and you select one of the three campaigns for either balkans or korea how do you select what squadron you are in and what airfield you are stationed and what type of missions you do (you squadron's main mission). I only asume you can do this? or do you just get what ur given and fly all types of missions? Hope you understand my question...

fatbOy60: When you first click on campaign is when you choose your squadron and airfield. Before you hit commit all you have to do is go over to the map of the area on the right and there will be several different airfields to choose from. Click on one and your squadron info will change and it will give you all the info about what type of squadron you choose. Hope that helps you out some.

another thing you may want to look into is uh...grr i forget what its called. designated steerpoints? its where you go into recon, click ur targets name, then write down the lat and long. then when in game you cycle through to that steerpoint and enter in the new lat and long so it changes to the exact location of that target. that way you can lock on using the steerpoint option with ccrp or something. bah forget what its called :(
