ummm, I have preordered it but there's something about that game that I really don't like....like when developer replies on question about crashes...he says:"everything worked on our side"!??? :nono:

I know they are working on it to fix it but waaay too much complaints....... considering the situation why wasting 30 euros better wait few weeks and get it half price....

are there many squadrons flying Pacific Fighters? Im considering of buying it...I have the basic IL-2 Version and i fly lock on in a squadron atm...If id fly Pacific Fighters i would probably go for a Hellcat or a P-51 if it is available, are there any squads dedicated to that aircraft?

Most people fly the merged version of the game (IL2 Forgotten Battles + Ace Expansion Pack + Pacific Fighters). This version is incompatible with the standalone Pacific Fighters installation. The merged version of the game has a lot more online activity than Lock On does. I bet you could find a squadron that would cater for you somewhere.

yep... it's the merged install that is used the most. You are not limited to the P51 or the F4 either... you are also able to fly more planes such as the P38 Lightning and A6M Zero... not to mention many many more.

ive been flying some Me262 stuff with Forgotten Battles, its a lot of fun. The Jet isnt easy to fly and very bad on the throttle but i think i know how to fly it ! :)

I sometimes visit the WarClouds server in the evening.
You can usually catch me flying a P-51D or P-63 on the allied side :smile:
Sometimes I'll fly one of the bombers or the P-38 for ground attack missions.

Hey Nighthawk,

This counts for all the forums but I'll use IL2 as an example.
When you are on the mainpage, you click on the "IL2 series" forum.
Then on the bottom are a couple of pull down menu's.

In the box stating "from the" select "beginning" and it will show you all the threads in that forum since it was created. ;)

Hey fans of IL2, how is it??

I only have MS CFS 2 and 3. I do like CFS3 but the missions are sooooo hard and I just cant go through the campaign, it's way too hard.

I'm thinking of getting a new WWII Combat sim that would replace the old CFS2 and 3, but don't know which.

Is Pacific Fighters good? I heard it's the next chapter in the IL2 saga.

I made a horrible mistake of getting Heroes of the Pacific, bleckkkkkkkk :nono: I got my titles mixed up. That is the dumbest cartoon, arcade nonsence since the commodore 64 (which I think was better, hehe).

Anyhoo,

Just wanted to ask for ya'lls opinions on IL2 and, I guess, Pacific Fighters.

Definitely the best WWII sim i have tried. Its pretty challenging and also really addictive. I havent found any other gaming experience so far that can beat a multiplayer PF sortie. I started out simming with lomac and I have now tried pretty much every decent sim currently available. I never really had any interest in the WWII stuff but PF has totally changed my mind. If you do decide to get PF, i advise you to get IL2FB plus the Ace Expansion Pack and then do a merged installation. That way you get heaps more planes and maps.

Just to confirm what GI said, well worth it to get Forgotten Battle and Aces Expansion pack and Pacific Fighters (FB+AEP+PF) as that is what most servers are running online and if you only have PF you wont be able to join. You will have to join PF only servers of which there arent that many.

Personally i dont need that many flyables to be happy, but i got them purely for compatibilty reasons with being able to join the majority on servers.

Yeah the sim is an online BLAST!!.
During the week I regularly try and find some time to fly in the spits vs 109 server. It has the maximum of realism applied, and has it's own TS server.

The gentlemen from AMVI were kind enough to get me started on this server.
I mainly use hyperlobby to log in to it.

The people on it are really cool, helpfull and friendly....an excellent example of the flightsim community's best attitudes.

It's pretty good.

But, you'll be disappointed with Single Player... trust me. Lack of dynamic campaigns, and super AI (A6M's that can keep with a P-38 in a dive without breaking up...).

Not to mention there are a few issues with the models (Seems the navy props have a problem with the 50 cals whipping the thing around in a massive yaw of about 4 mills.)... the P-38 also has some compression problems down low, hindering performance.

i tried to make it look like a P-47 got nailed in the engine and dmaage is being done..i have no yet added the engine bits flying everywhere and breaking but anyway
