View Full Version : Belgian F-16 down!!
I just heard from Redstormer and BB that a Belgian F-16 went down in the netherlands.
SAR is in progress and they have found the wreckage.
According to what info is available now it is an aircraft from Florennes airbase.
My prayers go out to the pilot who they haven't found yet.
We'll keep you posted.

I heard a few minutes ago on the radio broadcast that the F-16 was flying in formation when the crash took place.
Callsign of the flight was Sting13, so probably a plane from Florennes, from the 1 Sqn.
4 F16's were on a flight above the northsea, apparently one of them crashed in the sea.
The crash happend 2 hours ago, no pilot spotted yet, but the BAF thinks he landed in the sea.
Lets all hope they find the pilot and that he is OK.

It is confirmed to be a Belgium F-16. SAR missions are underway.
The aircraft was FA-112 from 1 sqn (EBFS).
No ejection seat signal has been given. Only a life jacket is found yet.
Position of the accident is:
Latitude: 53° 15 Min. 00 Sec.
Longitude: 004° 51 Min. 00 Sec
Probably a bird collission is the cause of the accident.
EBBL(Kleine Brogel) Wingops , says they picked up the emergency signal from the seat. So at least, thats good news.
VRT Nieuws(Belgian TV) just reported that the body of the pilot is found.
My condolences to the family :(

Sad!
Condolences to the Family and friends! ! !
Its sad that these things happen. I hope that the family will recover as good as possible from this loss. I hope also that there can be a lesson learned from this accident so this type of accident does not happen again. Youve made it to the ultimate sky m8, my prayers go out to you!
Horrido!

I'm sure its been said before, but to state the obvious here,
flying is a dangerous business!
Unfortunately we all have lost or know someone that has lost someone we know during our careers. I know i've lost a couple of very close friends, one who didn't survive his ejection. However in my opinion the reward of flight FAR outweighs the risk!
Prayers go to a lost brother & his family!
Keep em flying!
