Glossary of terms

Hey all,

Is there a glossary of terms anywhere in the forums? If not, can I suggest one in either the "Pilot's Bar" or "The Flightline" forums?

Also, for consistency, maybe make it a sticky, and that only one (or one set) of users modify it based on PM's or other posts?

Just an idea.....

btw - to start, I would like to know what UPT, IFF, and FTU are with respect to the pilot training ...

btw - to start, I would like to know what UPT, IFF, and FTU are with respect to the pilot training ...

UPT- Under Graduate Pilot Training. This is your basic pilot training/where you start. (Trying to get your Wings in the T-6/T-37 and the T-38)

IFF- Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals (Guys going to fighters/bombers have to go through this course prior to goint to FTU/RTU) You fly the AT-38/T-38C in this course. Focus is on flight discipline and actually maneuvering an aircraft to a weapons employment zone (WEZ) or putting bombs on a target. Hacker is an IFF instructor if you have more specific questions. I went through it but that was a while back and I am sure it has changed some.

FTU/RTU- A fighter training unit is where you are actually flying your particular weapon system such as the F-16. F-15, etc.

Good idea on the thread too. We'll work on that for you.
