View Full Version : *gasp* 716 pages PDF manual *gasp*
Today I *finaly* received my copy of Falcon 4.0 Allied Force. I haven't started the game yet, I'm simply reading the manual and was curious what the PDF would add to this, and holy macaroni, that's one big fat manual!
I'm going to have to buy extra paper and a huge binder to fit it all.
The printed manual looks ok though, seems to cover most of the basics, which is good. Once I finish ground school (reading the manual) I'll try and take the F16 for a spin.
Before I do that, aside of the 1.02 patch and a profile for my X-45 are there any other goodies, url, links, websites to look out for? Falcon HQ has been my main source of intel.
My neighbors are going to hate me this weekend, pumping up the volume of my cambridge soundworks 5.1 surround while taking off in my baby. Woo peee doo!

:thumb: Thanks :)
Steep learning curve, but great experience so far.
ps.: I like your fighter ops sig with the various planes. Gives me an idea to try and feature several of the planes I like to fly virtual as well.
Do you really need to print the whole manual? The information in the small booklet is enough to get you airbourne. The only thing I'd bother printing is the MFD chapter, ICP/DED, Radar and possibly LGBs and Dive/Toss section of weapons. Since the rest is covered in the booklet. Also print all the key commands is also handy.
Nah, I don't print the entire manual, but a big part of it - most likely up to chapter 27. The lessons for starters (Falcon 3.0 was the last one I flew, years ago - brother got it, i played it hehe).
The manual doesn't cover everything, it just scratches the surface but it does give you a generic overal impression. If you want in depth info you'll have to print out parts of the manual.
Speaking of getting airborne, the cold start up isn't covered in the manual so without knowing how to start up, you're not going anywhere.
Besides, 50 pages a day and you're done in two weeks - at that time the later content actually starts to make sense ;)
Ramp starts are in the electronic manual Page 19! Its the same procedure as F4SP4, if you look around you might be able to find the flash trainning program which is what I used to teach me how to do it. Now I longer require the manual because of it, its a brilliant trainning aid.:thumb:

You do not need F4 running to use this.
I also found a pit trainer that displays all the modes over various instruments, looked nice too :) (I've been madly collecting anything that has something remotely to do with F4, it will subside over time i'm sure ... or not ... I noticed I was already looking at some wood and had a talk with my brother about a cockpit lol - well hey he got the powertools for it, and well the know how ;))
Going to download the ramp start trainer too and see how that works. Sounds like a great tool too, thanks!
ramp means disaster in dutch lol
[update]
:bounce: Wow just did a ramp start trainer run and that program is simply amazing! Indeed, like you said: a brilliant program! Looks like I'll be spending some quality time there ;) very cool, thanks again.
Well at least it'll sort of prepare you for FO although I'd expect the Vipers real life ramp start to be similar but not 100% like F4s. The other good point is you won't look like a total noob not being able to start your engine with a flight if the flight lead decides to select it.
