Hello all.
Jutst dug out my old copy of Falcon, been on the shelf for quite a few years. Now that I feel the need to get back into it, I find there are two ways to go. The SP4.2+BMS2.0 or the FreeFalcon3 way. Just like some pointers on the difference between the two. Which has better graphics performance, new aircraft and terrains. Specifically, I'd like to fly the Operation Desert Storm campaign and the Israeli terrain and would like to know which versions are these terrains compatible with. So, if you please, could you post your opinions on which one is better to download and install, any thoughts would be greatly appritiated.
Thanks
Snare

I would like to know these things too as I also plan to get back into F4. Also, will either of the streams allow carrier ops in a hornet with a good 3d pit?
Yes, both allow carrier ops in a hornet but, its like flying a F-16 in a Hornets skin. Even with some of the Hornet pits available the MFD display and HUD are still F-16. Free Falcon/Cobra is easier to install than SP4 but some of the features of SP4 I prefer over FF3/Cobra. You can download both and run both using Falcon Switcher or Pro-utilities. There is a single SP4.2 patch that is a one click installer which cuts down on the dance a fair bit. Give both a try and have fun.

Thanks Subs17, very helpful. What are the features that make you prefer SP4 over FF3? I'll have a look around for Falcon Switcher.
Also, are HiTiles and the Stopworks pits compatible with both?
Thanks again

I'll echo what Subs said, load both with Falcon Switcher. Both have their pros & cons.
The one thing I'm enjoying right now in FF3 is the OCI for the different Theaters.
Yes, your Stopworks pit and HiTiles will work with both installs.

I just installed FF3.1+Cobra and I must say I'm impressed. Loving flying the Hornet, but don't seem to be able to take off from a carrier - is it landing only?
I think I may just wait to get this revamped Falcon 4.0 Allied Air Force coming out. I have tried getting F4 on my sytem but have met each try with dismal failure.

Unfortunately the Hornet is not that realistic to fly off carriers etc on F4. Even F3s Hornet addon is better than it, because cat launches and arrester landings were done properly in F3 for the Hornet addon. I really wish Spectrum holobyte had done the same for F4. Stick to the F-16, ya can't go wrong. The hornet will take off from the carrier I think you just taxi to the launch position and open the throttle. To land just lower your hook and on touch down push the nose down to catch the wire.(CNTRL k is hook)

I prefer the manuals for SP4 and the prcedures checklists that come with it. I also find that the ramp up seems better in SP4 than FF3. I also prefer the stock F-16 pit over the stock FF3 F-16 pit. But I also like the clouds and weather in FF3 more than SP4s. I'll see if I can get some better results with SP4.2 when I put the one click installer in.

You are very lucky. I can't get to run cobra with my FF3.1 . I have this install because the graphics are better and gives me more immersion. BTW has anyone got Cobra problems? like UI taking forever to acknowledge selections?

Do you have the latest installs (FF3.1.1/Cobra1.1.1)? Your version will be 1.6.3.15. I had problems with Cobra 1.1, but the 111 patch fixed it.
