Hey guys,

Thought I would keep a progress thread here, hope you don't mind??

I finally got the SCC mounted in the pit. Due to the way I made supports for the cockpit, I was not able to mount the stick where it should go. Thus I had to move the stick back about 3/4". The bad part was the metal forward piece of the SCC did not meet up with the AUX panel anymore. So I had to fabricate one out of wood so it fits. I am quite happy with the results, and after filling and sanding it, it looks better then in the photos!

Subs17,

Not sure exactly what you mean. I have the Realsim gear so I am using the GPD for my RWR right now. As you might already no there have been some recent discoveries of getting MFDs and stuff to work using a rear projection and stuff. So these are some ideas I will look into.. For now it is nothing more than a big piece of wood with switches and lights.

Subs17,

Sorry misunderstood thte question. Righ now I have a 21" that I will be using. I don't plan on using a projector until we get the MFDs and HUD extraction process sorted out.

Hey guys,

Thought I would keep this page going to show the progress of my pit. As it nears completion, I am just doing some ACES II detailing now. THis weekend, I mounted the ejection handle, as well as the arming lever. I would have loved to have a more positive clicking action to the arming lever, but for now, it uses simple friction to hold its place. I mounted a tiny micro push button switch in the seat, so when the arming lever is rotated to the down position it will depress the button. It works great, I would just prefer a more positive click action. Almost locking into place.

The ejection handle works like a charm. As this is the common Escapec handle that are sold on Ebay it is not 100% like the ACES II lever. So I first built a little triangular mount to hold the lever. The cable runs through the mount and into the seat hooked up to a 10lbs spring at the back of the seat. To ensure durability and prevent the cable from sawing through the wood, I have it fed through a short copper plumbing pipe. I am very happy with the ejection handle, as it feels somewhat like the real thing. I will however, in the future change the spring to a lighter load.

I heard the real ACES II has about a 40lbs spring.. I find that hard to believe as even with this 10 pound spring, you can see the rubber handle alost ripping out of the base mount just on 10 lbs resistance??? Perhaps these handles are cheaper?? Who knows.. Anyway hope you enjoy the pics.

Yeah sure no problem.. Just that my labour for the last 14 months adds about to about 10,000 dollars on a relatively cheap rate. So... Maybe you should build one yourself? :D

DD,

Well you know, I DO love the Viper more than any plane out there. But I have to tell you, I certainly wish I did not.. Cause as we all know, the Viper being a pilot's office, has more angles and stuff than you can imagine. I bet I could build an 18 or 15 in 1/4 of the time with just as much detail..

Great design with both switches Marvin!!! Very novel. I'm sure the ejection handle is tough enough to handle your punch-out force during a bad situation. Everything looks really solid! You gave me a great idea for the Seat Armed switch too!

Thanks for the pics!
