I've noticed that most of the times when you guys come in from a flight that right about when you are in the flare you pull up the gear and punch it to the EOR and then pull into what appears to be about a 5 g climb/bank. I was just curious why you guys do this? Is it s procedure, or do you just do it b/c you can? Either way I love watching it :).

From what I understand this is to practice flameout landing procedures, the pull up at the end of the runway is up to the "high-key" position where they then simulate a flameout landing procedure, prior to touch down, suck the gear up, and do it again.

I think i know what you are talking about. They would do the same thing except climb to a higher altitude and then simulate a flameout. What I'm talking about is what they do almost everytime. When they pull up and EOR, they just enter a normal pattern and then proceed to land.

Would that be Touch n goes?
A low approach or an option approach in civilian terms.
We are just practicing patterns. If we pull up to the normal 1500' pattern then we are just practicing approaches. If we pull up to the higher alitude (Hi-Key) then we are practicing flame out landings as mentioned above. Either way it is just practice for us when we have a little extra fuel. And yes it is fun!
