On the f16 that we fly there is not a dragchut on it and country ,s that fly,s the f 16 have the drag chut on it. Can you tell us why this is . Duncan Harrington Falcon1377 :thumb:

I think that is up the each countrys needs and desires. We in Norway do have a chute packed in the enlarged tail-fin above the engine nozzle. I suspect there is some kind of ECM equipment when there is no chute.

Some countries use Roadways as Airstrips, or shorter airstrips than the US does... So they need the Chute to slow down fast enough.

I'm pretty sure you need a very long runway if you land without the chute as the airbrakes are quite small on the F-16. The F/A-18 has a much larger airbrake and therefore does not have the need for a chute(hollywood Independence Day F/A-18s are the exception lol)
