Hey Haole,
I heard many times that Vipers are not designed to land on full internal tanks. What is the maximum lbs of fuel an F-16 can land with? Is there a set number or specific SOP for this?
Thanks
Marvin

MarvinWe have had guys take off with full external tanks and weapons that have had to turn around and land immediately. Our squadron regs require us to get below 4,000# before landing unless an emergency exists, then we will land with what we have.
Cheers!

I ended up with both MLG trunnions cracked on 83-1145 due to the 4000# rule. Pilot had AB blowout on departure, should've carted off the ordnance and the ECM, instead he burned off the gas to around 4000# and then hammered the jet onto the ground with Mk84X4, AIM-9MX2, ECM on C/L. Took me 48 hours of no sleep and hard work for the ACC and myself to get the jet FMC again, plus jacking and canning the parts off of the cann bird.
Grrrr...
