That's right Tanzanite...

You have to pay to see the latest screenshots and development information.

I think you mean you have to pay to get access to the very latest behind the scenes and pre-alpha work that no other development company would let you see, as well as competitions, arcade games, teamspeak servers, and other goodies provided to you at our costs.

Or you can get access to heaps of information and screenshots, again brought to you well before most development companies would even think about, for free, you just won't get it as quickly as the paying contributers do. Totally your choice, and either way you still get much more "behind the scenes" access than just about any other commercial project.

support in the development of a new flight Sim for us all now that gota be worth $25 .

I think you mean you have to pay to get access to the very latest behind the scenes and pre-alpha work that no other development company would let you see,

But I was told that the information in Area 51 is always released publically after a few weeks. That would mean all the info someone is paying for with Area 51 will be free in time.

So, you are saying that you still withold information and screenshots from the public and only allow those who pay to have access to it?

It's your outfit but for me, after Claude and G2i's track record, I wouldn't give a cent to G2i until I was 100% certain that I would get a tangilble product in return. Paying for beta information is not tangible to me.

What happenes *if* F/O never sees the light of day? Do the Area 51 members get their money refunded? 500 Area 51 members @ $25/year over 2 years is $25,000 dollars. That's a LOT of money invested in information alone. Someone could stand to make a lot of money off of Area 51 if F/O fails.

BTW... what happened to the big announcement that was hyped a week ago here: http://fighterops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1901

That's exactly what I said in my post Shepski. The choice is you pay to get access to information earlier, as well as the competitions and many other benefits. Or you wait and you still get it all free at a later date, there are some things that will be Area 51 exclusive, but the majority of the information will eventually work it's way to the general forums, there is no set time frame on when this will happen, usually it will take around a month or so, depends on the nature of the information.

When you said:

pre-alpha work that no other development company would let you see I assumed you meant that no one outside Area 51 would see it ever.

BTW... how many Area 51 members are there now?

Around 240 last I checked

[edit] Sorry I lied, just checked again, and it's 254

Not all are paying members though, we gave free subscriptions to all team members, so I would say there's probably more like 200.

200 Roger...

Over 1 year that is $5,000 dollars of revenue for providing information, thus far.

Nice haul!

Yep, did you add in to that equation cost of services provided, costs of products given away and to be given away, etc etc etc.

I'm not saying we don't benefit out of it, of course that's the reason for it, to support the development effort, but obviously by the number of people signing up and the feedback by those people it's clear to see that the benefits go both ways.
