ditto, you've only seen the tip of the iceberg, some older Area 51 shots will soon make their way onto the public site, as well as a new bunch of shots heading to Area 51.

How old is "older"?
So let me get this straight...
The general public is only given "older" outdated information as to the progress of this software while those who pay G2i will get the latest information?
Sounds like a wonderful marketing strategy!
I have never seen a commercial software developer/producer keep the general public updated on their work with older outdated material and information on the official website.
I would assume the test team are members of Area 51 which would mean that the test team is paying G2i to test their product... another first!
If this is part of what you call "Next generation"... I don't think you will be setting any new standards this way... and by the amount of traffic on these forums I think a lot of people might agree with me.
Older is about 2 weeks. On a project of this size, 2 weeks is hardly anything. I believe we give you a substantial amount of information regarding our progress; had we not told you, you wouldn't even have known it was old. People who pay for an Area 51 subscription are paying for a service, and as such, new content is rushed to them. Then within 2 weeks that content is transferred to you. We could just choose to wait and release all content to everyone when it was convienent. Perhaps we could do a once or twice monthly update to the site and then the content everyone was seeing would be 2+ weeks old. However, extra care is taken for those who have choosen to pay for subscription to Area 51 and thereby support our project, so we give them content as soon as it arrives. In the future we will have a more functional website and we will be able to bring content to everyone sooner than we can now. There will also be a system where the progress of all projects and staff will be tracked. Contributors will then have limited access to view this system and see more specific information (rather than just screen shots or sounds or whatever) of each project.
Members of the beta test team, who are members listed on the Fighter Ops Team List, were all given free accounts to Area 51.
Please understand that we are not trying to rip you guys off in anyway, we are just doing what we can to get you a good first release as soon as possible. It helps to have paying contributors for this project. If it enables us to get you a higher quality simulation, sooner, I think you should then find it understandable that you may see some new screen shots a few days later.
2 weeks is fine... I think it would be better to have your PR people mention little details like that in the future.
Paying for information still seems very strange to me but I hope it works for you.

Newest infos are mostly not for free today, nothing strange. I suggest u to spend more time on reading web site if you are really interest on FO, and less rude comments before you know most things on this. This payment is not only for newest info.

For what other piece of entertainment software do you have to pay the developer for the latest information during devlopment?
What else is the money for?

None. Reason being most development teams don't keep the general public up to date on development at all.
Not only do Area-51 members get the latest scoop, but they receive other benefits aswell. I don't need to spell them out to you, I'm sure you can browse and read.
If you don't like the idea of paying for it..don't. Same as me. :bounce:
Shepski,
We did and do announce that area 51 members have first priviledge to the information.
I suggest that you check the area51 page (click on the right MFD on the frontpage, or on the link provided in the main information window on the same page)
Area51 was started after several people asked us how they could support our project without them having any skills that might benefit the project practically, and some suggested helping us financialy.
That was something we couldn't except without giving something in return....that's where Area 51 was born.
I hope this information helps you.
Best regards,

Does that date have any sort of substantial significance? Just wondering...
No, that was just the date we started.
