Hi, Haole.

I'd like to know a little about cockpit pressurization in the F16.

What equivalent altitude will it pressurize to when you're flying at or near the service ceiling?

Is there any particular formula or ratio between outside air pressure and the pressurization available inside the cockpit?

Do you have any special procedures to follow when entering combat, such as depressurizing the cockpit for safety?

Feel free to add anything I might have missed.

I think the cockpit pressurization is quite similar to that of an airliner. While you're climbing, pressure decreases slightly in pit, while the outside air pressure decreases quicker. Once a certain differential pressure is reached, the decrease in outside and inside pressure is equal. This to prevent an overpressure so the plane won't burst apart.

It might be kinda different in a fighter, since you have way better climbing abilities.

And the basic F-16 is not equipped with OBOGGS, but with a 5 liter LOX (Liquid OXygen) bottle for normal use, and an additional bottle attached to the seat for emergencies.
