Hello Capt. Haole
Two quick questions :

1º Inside the Viper, what is the plane that you most fear in an engagement from BVR to Dogfight. :guns:

2º What do you think about the "padlock view" discussed in this threads :

http://fighterops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1303

This is from a fellow pilot. do you agree with is view ?

Thanks in advance

Bladehawk,

I wouldn't go as far as think you are on a ignor list. However, if you search through Frugals you will see Haole has answered "most feared fighters" list before several times. If you have a look there, I'm sure you will find his answers.

Please be a little understanding of Haoles position, he has a full-time job, plus his ANG duties, plus the work he does with fighter ops, plus his family commitments, in between all of that he graciously spends hours on these forums answering our questions, it's quite easy for him to miss a post, or get too busy to answer and forget to come back to it, a friendly bump is all that is required.

Even as a 'Padlock Hater', I think this article was very well written and his opinion expressed professionally.

However, I would REALLY like to read something by that same person on the same topic after he has used a TrackIR for a month.

No, I am not starting a war here or TrackIR this, TrackIR that. I am being honest. I hate the padlock topic as all the asshats come out of the wood work. But this guy really voiced his opinion well. Very well.

I think you are right, thanks Buckshot. I will keep waiting because Haole (real viper driver) view about "padlock" is very important to me. I hope he will have vital role in the development of a realistic "padlock" or "look at" or "eyes on target" whatever we want to call it .

I think so Terry, if a "real viper pilot" says that the Enhanced Padlock it´s in the end somewhat the most realistic way to track the targets who am I to say no? thats why I asked a second opinion to Haole (another real viper driver).

Sorry, been extremely busy lately with work, flying and the sim project. Anyway....I've gone in to more detail in Frugals World on this topic but to keep you from having to dig around too much I think a Mig 29 or a SU-27 with a good pilot would be a good fight (other than another Viper of course).

As far as padlock goes....I've used it in the sim and it does help you to keep track of the target better (especially with the limited amount of visual resources in the sim) but at the same time it is a little bit of a cheat, also. You dont always have the visual of a target in real life and you have to know where to "expect" to see it again to quickly re-acquire the target. I still have mixed emotions about it but as I fly the sim more I'll keep you all informed on what my final decision is. See ya!
