Haole,

We are all fortunate to have someone with your career background around. Cool stuff.

Question:
I am not certain if this falls into the "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" category, so to speak, but I would imagine that military operations in MOAs are considered VFR. If this is the case, are military aircraft subject to cloud clearance requirements just like civilian VFR aircraft? I would imagine that would get in the way quite a bit.

Thanks Dex!

It's great being here and chatting with all you guys.

Yes we have to follow the VFR rules when we are inside of a MOA. See and Avoid, cloud clearances, etc. You would be surprised at how often civilian traffic comes through MOAs when they are hot! Legal but not advised! Thankd for the question!

CHEERS!

Ahh... thanks for the response.

I suppose in a knife fight you would want to maintain visual contact with the opposing aircraft, so cloud clearance would be and inherent requirement. Perhaps clouds are not as troublesome as I think in other, non-visual engagements.
