hey all im new to flight sims :) i play fps games (first Person Shooter) like soldier of fortune 2, counter-strike, meddal of honor, etc etc...
my shine is at the game Falcon 4.0 Gold:OIC..... i planning to buy a joystick too.... i have a few questions:
1: i noticed that this sim is like real (cause a saw a map included with the game in a pic) but is it fun?
2: does it have multiplayer? cause i like multiplayer games.
3: what other flight sims that are really good that have multiplayer and easy planes to fly? (modern planes)?
4: what joystick should i get? im planning to get Saitek cyborg evo

1- depends on what fun is to you. Falcon 4.0 is fun to me. TrueCombat and OFP also, but CS is not.
2- yes it will have a multiplayer mode
3- try MSFS if you want something easy (after setting it to easy). but dont expect anything like CS ...
4- how much do you want to spend on a joystick? go out and buy the joystick with the best price-performance ratio. I have Logitech (Interceptor & Strike Force 3D), Microsoft (Precision Pro) and Trustmaster (Cougar) joysticks and all 4 are great depending on what you are going to fly ...

You should first get Falcon 4.0, install the available patches, borrow a joystick from a friend and try it out. If you like it you can invest some money in a future hobby ...

Welcome aboard! It is wise to choose simulators especially ones with strategical content. Soon you will see that flying in a dynamic air combat game is more addictive and fun than fighting in a CS multiplayer arena. However simulations require _much_ more dedication of player to play and get its feed back. (information on aviation and FUN of course!)

Try Total Air War, for both newbies and professionals, Falcon 4.0 is a good one, but only experienced people should mess with it :), it wont be nice if you get loose at the start.

You can find TAW demo from the web and you can patch it for full version later. (its a abandonware as both the publisher and the producer firms are closed) 71mb is Demo, 80mb is full version. it comes with all professional tools (including AWACS command) each tool has automatic handling option for newbies.

For joystick, if you have pedals by any chance, I might suggest you to check Gravis Blackhawk Digital, cheap and usefull enough but there are more expensive and professional ones around. Choice is up to you.

I agree. If you are not familiar with combat sims try taking the time to go over some reference manuals on miliary aircraft and avionics. A good source would be Janes reference manuals which, by the way, were the first sims I played over 10 years ago. Falcon 4.0 is an excellent sim but only for the more seasoned sim players. The manual itself is foreign to those not familiar with aviation avionics. Good luck to ya and happy flyiing! http://www.nellis.af.mil/images/banner_main.jpg

guys are you trying to put him off flight sims or what sheesh
im real new to falcon and if i hadnt done one before and i just read what you guys posted i would say to myself *stuff this im not going to get a flight sim if i have to do all that before i even buy a game to try*

AirForceOne a good one for starting with is definitely like one of the guys said is EAW which is European Air War although its world war 2 planes its easy mode is great to try flying with.
Falcon is real hard to learn even with easy mode which im not sure works in SP4 download.......you really want to join a squad to learn how to fly falcon 4.0 the right way as they have good training systems to help teach newbies like us. Its very involved but its as realistic as you can get without joining the airforce so worth it in the long run.

PS i like FPS too as addicted to AAO (americas army)

ehm, I was talking about Total Air War (DID) not European Air War :) anyways, its another good sim to get started with. however, if he wants to get familiar with modern aviation, TAW is the best one... one step beneath the Falcon

I like Total Air War. But currently i'm teaching my mate how to fly in Falcon 4.0 with BMS and all the other stuff. The method we are using is almost like in the F-16 D. The reason we can use this method is because he lives right across the driveway from me. His almost finished with the basics and then we both get into our own vipers and i just fly formation with him and check that he is doing the stuff he learnt, also communicating via voice oveer lan
