View Full Version : This could be good
I just hope this sim isn't rushed out the door like LOMAC.

I think it would depend on the level of funding. If they run out of funding they have to ship the product in order to generate income. The longer you drag on, the more money you end up losing.
That being said, I think Lock On is actually a pretty decent sim. My 2 cents, from my limited time playing, is that it just needed a hardcover manual, better documentation and better training missions -- any in-game training that no longer functions after patching is NOT A GOOD IMPLEMENTATION, in my opinion. A better interface couldn't hurt either.
Everything else will be taken care of in future patches, knowing Eagle. LOMAC doesn't look to be another UbiSoft 'Raven Shield', in this regard. :)

Whether or not the end product is 'rushed out the door', I still think that the result will be the same. Unless by some sheer luck or brilliant testing and work on the product, it will never be perfect upon first release.
Patches and updates will almost certaintly follow the initial commercial release in my opinion. As long as the sim is supported and improved (which I'm quite confident that it will be, judging from what I've read), eventually it will be as flawless and bug-free as it possibly can be. What more can we ask for?
You can't please everyone all at the same time, there will always be something that isn't right, or something that could be tweaked/needs improvement, etc etc, at least for one or more people. If the end result does happen to satisfy everyone 100%, then that will probably be a first for any software title, AFAIK.

I think the testing will be a major player getting the game released on time. I also think whatever comes out will be a great sim.
By Q4, the base platform of the game shoild be released (consisting of a mission builder and some generated missions). I not only think it is possible, but now I think quite probible due to some recent info I aquired while pulling a few old strings. Buck said we will be overwhelmed with info. This time, I believe him.

I also think it is going to be a great sim, with a few patches after initial release of course

I'm sort of looking forward to it. Being a veteran of many military combat sims (even before the first Janes sim), I am curious to find out what new developments in graphics, gameplay, and interactivity have been implemented into creating this new sim. Standing by....

Vlerkies, I think the beta testing will tell the tale. How much time will they have to beta test? If Fighter Ops will have dedicated testers, with a good solid two months testing, then I think the patch situation becomes a mute point (the real little stuff). But if G2I/Gen Av don't rely on testing, then where looking at something like SP4, which has data edit problems, CTD's and bottlenecks with the code platform.

Well they said on the front page that they want to produce the best sim on the market. So i would assume that rigorous testing will be done :D
