I thing here is a global area and we should write in English guys. Here is not a Turkish forum. Anyway...

I want to see these pics and videos as everybody. My topic isn't a clash source.

He has got a point there guys, i trust that it wasn't intended to be a political discussion, just someone who is merely interested in seeing what happens when the two respective countries come face to face in a dogfight :D

@Verkies, @Fevzi Çakmak: I agree with you both, after all this is the General Discussion forum so I can't really see what the fuss is all about.

I have seen some vids of dogfights over the Aegean on the net some while back, i'll see if i can find some links to post.

Ok managed to find one clip The url is http://www.geocities.com/damianos/Intrcpt.avi

"DECLASSIFIED!! The Hellenic Airforce released the tape of when Greek F-16s intercepted and recorded mock kills on two Turkish F-16s who "buzzed" a Greek C-130 carrying the Greek Defence Minister. This clip from one Greek F-16 cockpit records both the visual and the audio of the kill."

There is also a video of a Turkish F16 locking on onto a Greek Mirage which then crashes.

first of all mine and Predator's posts in Turkish are to "Fevzi Çakmak", to remind him that its not the place.

and about topic, I dont trust that its _not_ going to be a political discussion, some jerk will post something offensive and the show will begin...

I suggest that members should post constructive messages and discuss new possible features for the upcoming game and not to waste forum area with political stuff.

And you may find other places to discuss these videos in both good and bad way.

Well i think us moderators can sort out any offensive posts if it eventuats but thankyou for your concern it is appreciated.......but also this is a forum for general discussion and as the videos would be of possibly the F16 or other military aircraft it could be interesting for lots of people to watch including myself.

I dont see where he was starting a political discussion it was a genuine request about military videos.

the main reason i request english is there is no way in heck i could learn everyones language at my age so i could work out if someone is insulting someone in a different language. If you care to discuss something in a different language i would suggest PM's please. I dont have anything against any other countries languages, race, colour or religion as after all im a kiwi and here in New Zealand we are multicultural :drink:

Uhm, this is definately a General forum, thus generally anything goes. For the pedantically inclined, there is also the Fighter Ops forum of course, and the topic seems aviation (fighter) related, not political.

Hey Vlerkies, wat maak jy hier? Het jou nog nooit hier rond gesien nie.

Well, it looks like the forums are off to a great start at least, with a great mix of the usual simulation crowd! :drink:

Think we can get an emoticon with the smiley smoking a cuban, Katz?

Generally speaking relations between the two countries are rather good, & once the Cypress issue has ended, which might happen this year, matters should improve even more.

The Aegean Theatre might be considered a hot bed by some, and there is some muscle stretching going on...but more than that it's an interesting place to practise tactics for both sides. Since both countries are members of NATO they actually share a lot more than most might realise. A number of large scale exercises are staged together with other NATO countries, & quite successfully I might add. Both countries have in modern times offered to help each other in situations like, e.g. earthquake disasters, fires, etc.

Any flame wars that have occurred on some sim forums are usually started by immature individuals coming from both sides and should just be ignored.

All countries have there great people & there not so great people; it's a fact of life & of this world. We all need to learn to respect each other, to care & help each other when need be.

Good post Prowler, but you know how it goes with these threads. It's all nice and polite at first, till someone starts posting arguments about who is ripping who's a$$, and the flames start flying all over the place. Lets hope that this thread will be kept civilized.
As for the link, i havent seen which video is it, but from the last translated R/T i can say that it's a very old one. Just a note. Be carefull on what it is translated since some things can give away info that is still very much classified.

While everybody is entitled to their own opinion and I respect them regardless of whether I agree or not, I still don't understand how some people can get offended as essentially I am just helping out Fevzi Çakmak who was looking for some videos. Guess i shouldn't have bothered offering the translation of the pilots comms as some people will get offended. Silly me. Won't happen again.

Seriously though would it be more offending/upsetting listening to what is being said on the comms or watching a pilot being killed by another pilot. It really is a pointless debate. I don't mean any offence to anyone, just an innocent translation of what was being said, and no i dont think this post will lead to political arguments.

My apologies to anybody that might have been offended by my video and/or translation post.

I for one am thankful for the translation of the R/T. And i agree with what you said Daed as well as with what Katz said.

The reason why we are all here is because of one thing. Military Flight Simulations, and as any other enthusiast i would like to know as much as i can. That is why i also don't see why links to military videos could be classified as political.

As far as i am concerned i am a Military sim enthusiast, and am very grateful for the link provided to the clip, it gives you a side of a dogfight you don't see or read about in the papers.

So if there ever is to arise any flame due to political reason it would be uncalled for.

:drink: a cold one for you Daed

Well you're right Heater about it being old...it is. & don't worry about it being classified, it isn't. Actually it aired on prime time news as well as on the BBC last summer on some documentary about Aegean airspace which I won't go into here, if anyone saw it they'll know what it was about...

@Daed : No one is offended by the translation you provided. Actually it was a nice thing to do for those ppl not speaking greek (99.999999999% in this forum, excluding me that is :D ). All i said is that since there are a bunch of these videos circulating on the net, the majority of them are not diclassified, and contain some info as to ROE and firing parameters. This info is still classified and i dont know if it would be wise to translate it. Thats all.
If you come across another dicassified clip (highly doubt it though) feel free to provide translations, so the ppl in this forum get an idea of what it is like in a real engagement.

Well....it's good when one shares these pieces of info with the community Vlerkies. What sucks big time is to have these videos in the HD ( 8) ) and not being allowed to share them cause they are still classified !!!!!!

hey, I was just reading the new posts , I impressed that Daed thinks that he is offending me by translating the clip (I didnt see anyone else supporting my idea so thats why I took it) anyways, I felt I should post this.

Daed, there is no problem for me, and thanks for translation, my point was the people that are trying to stir political problems between Turkey and Greece pointlessly and in an uncivilized manner.

Hi buddies,

I want to tell you all that we don't have such photos or videos on our official web site. I think there is a misunderstanding or something. As many of you stated these king of media are classified. At least from our side. We were strictly told byr Official TuAF members that these kind of media can not be given to 3rd parties by hand or via internet. Please do not ask copies of such media from us.

Dont really see this thread turning into a political debate over Greece Turkey matters; as long as this forum is populated by mature and friendly ppl dont think there really is need for such a concern and usually the immature bunch that manage to stir things up a bit usually get kicked out before they can cause much damage.

As for classified media, its true lots of stuff on the internet is classified and cannot be posted. I know the feeling of having stuff on your HD you just want to share and not being able to but oh well too bad thats just the way it is.

I've heard some interesting stories about the Iran/Iraq war, appearantly an F14 took out several Migs in a dogfight. I'm hoping to get a copy of the book that I saw on a website about that war. I'm not interested in the politics just like the war stories.

cheers
