As like many other people I'd be very very happy with a 2 seater multiplayer sim.
I don't know how much of a problem this would cause but a major issue that I can see would be with comms. The comms today on multiplayer can be a little "busy". Imagine doubling that for every ship in the flight.

Brainstorm bit: Would it be possible to create a comms system that would allow the back seater to listen in to the flight chat but only allow transmit to the pilot or vise versa. This would cut out a lot of confusion when things were getting a bit "busy".

I would be satisfied with the possibility if a 2 seater would be generally playable by LAN where your weapon officer either your pilot is sitting in the same room for playing.

Hi,

I think most of the newer comms programs now permit you to have different channels of communication, so I think what you are asking for is already available...

The idea of a 2 seat multi play has been talked about already. its a good idea. Not sure if they will put it in the game but i would like to see it myself. as far as comms go, the 16th uses team speak and we have multiple channels for flights.

Don't know if my idea was made clear enough.
I was thinking that a minimum of 2 simultaneous channels would have to be used, one for internal comms between pilot and Nav. And another for inter flight comms.

The pilot and Nav/Rio would have to be in constant contact with each other (Both transmit and receive).

And the pilot would have to have constant contact (both transmit and receive) with the rest of the flight at the same time without needing to channel hop from internal to flight.

The Nav/Rio should also receive transmissions from the flight but only transmit if required.

Not flown much MP, nearly 2 years now so I'm just fishing. Can 2 channels be run simultaneously just now.

2 channel comms are built into falcon.

2 Channel comms would also be used in the new sim for realism along with intercomm for dual seat aircraft.

Cheers. just thought I'd throw my 10pence worth in.
The more realistic this sim can be the better for us all. Just need the whole community to come together to make it that way.
The oppurtunities for this sim could be endless.

I've been waiting for a functional Pilot/WSO in an F15E since F15Strike EagelIII came out years ago. I worked like a maniac to try to get that game to work over a LAN. So far, our LAN group has been limited to LB2 for front seat/back seat play. :)

Did you guys MODified a game which was released 13 years ago??? any results?

I was wondering how to fly all this 2 seater in single play. If the flight and avionics realism will be so well as FO team say, 1 person will be unable to use all of many devices onboard jet. Maby it will be able to pause simulation and switch between pilot/ wso, but this spoil whole realism.
I think that best solution is use AI so if I'm pilot AI is wso and when I'm wso AI is pilot. What are you think about this?

I like that idea. It wouldn't be very realistic with an AI pilot I guess, but I'd rather have an AI pilot and have a full compliment of crew in a 2 seater aircraft than have just the one pilot in single player that does everything.

Well, I really like the idea of a two seater...
I think it would be a lot of fun.
Now, I was playing Falcon 4.0 up until about a year ago.
Right about the time I stopped playing; someone was creating a two seater (two player) F15.
I got excited. I would love to be the WSO.
It also makes the job for the pilot a lot easier. The WSO can monitor altitude and speed during a dogfight. This way the pilot can focus on the task at hand. As well as radar...
Man, I think it would be a blast to ride "shotgun"...

I say "thumbs up" for a 2 seat cockpit...
But, let's keep it realistic . . . No two seater A10's ! ! !

Except if you do online training :drink:

Ah . . . However, there was only one two seater A10 ever built.
But it never flew.
The first time an A10 pilot climbs into the cockpit for training; he's on his own. (Or her own ;-) )

Now i see, well the A-10 is tough so the pilot should be tough too, and be capable of coping training alone in the A/C :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:
