Eluzion,

I just read your Project Plan/Goals post, and it reads well. Having spent some months participating on another site also trying to get a new game started here are two comments:

Regarding Project Plan: Stay focused on the plan as outlined. The other site's project seems to have failed to produce a first version of the game due to way-too-much time and energy spent hashing over neuances best left for the second version of the game -- and by discussing all the features of everyone's wish list which also should wait for the second version. Its fun to discuss things with the public, but it becomes detrimental if it leads to many changes or saps energy from the project team. I suggest the project team and special contibutors should have their own forum and mainly should only talk among themselves. Of course, one person to interact with the public and keep us up to date and interested would be good. In the mean time, get that first version of the game to Beta as fast as you can -- then Beta it for months if needed.

Regarding Game: One of the things that really interest me because it adds immersion for me is your goal of a spherical world which can be populated over time -- presumably with add-on theatres provided by the project team and public. Please keep that Idea in the mix!

Best wishes for your success :D

Thank you Allen,

Your input is appreciated.
The "plan" now posted isn't for the first release only, which I'm sure you knew.
It is meant to let the visitors know what we want to accomplish with this project.
These goals will be split into seperate segments which will lead us to the goals that are stated.

And indeed you suggestions on keeping it simple and humble should be followed, IMHO.

I hope you will visit here regularly to keep track of the development from this project.

Hey Allen,

I agree in every word you said. One question. Wich part of the world is going to be modelled first and released first? I understand if the question can't be answeared yet.
I assume that the devs didn't think to release the whole world theatre in one package. As Jaker said; step by step is the best way to go :D

Thx Bladehawk, I try my best

The first area of conflict isn't decided yet, we have a couple of possibilities and we are still evaluating which area to choose.

It is not only the terrain that matters, also the weapons all the participating countries own and use.
How they are used, etc....

Off course all of the "storylines" will be need to be fictive.

A good resource of "storylines" to conflict theaters is Tom Clancy...

If we can end up with a story that isn't full of stereotypes against "ingame adversaries" or even "ingame none-European US allies", that'd be great (which is something I'm worried about when it comes to Tom Clancy's stories other than Rainbow Six) .

Granted there are elements necessary for the story to begin with such as, for example, "Hawks took control of China and invaded Taiwan to divert attention from internal problem, and player's squadron is deployed to Japan in response." But then that's fictitous story, not stereotype.
