There was a time in the 80's that a software company dreamed of producing seperate titles (tanks, aircraft, warships etc.) being able to communicate with eachother (multiplayer) fighting in a realtime virtual world.

~15 years past by since. We are still dreaming .......

Well, don't forget WWII Online. :)

Although it's prop jets and older military stuff, it still has everything basically.

it may "still have everything basically" but it falls way short of fulfilling the promise of a real War sim....the simplification of the aircraft is a clear display of this.

I don't agree that doing a full "war sim" is even truly desirable...you'd find scant few individuals willing to take the position of infantrymen. Those infantrymen are the only way you truly hold ground. I have a feeling such a "sim" would wind up being a kiddie wonderland....filled to the brim with the "I pwned joo n00bz" set. I sincerely hope that this isn't the grand scheme that GenAv and G2I have in store...:(

"kiddie" doesn't only mean physically immature...apparently mental immaturity pervades Americas Army's online battles...glad I stayed clear.

dont forget bf1942 (it may not be complex) but all elimates are there and its real fun

also what about planetside.
i think that was pretty revolutionary
its huge and has everything all you would have to do is make a mod that changes vehicles and skins and weapons but the engine supports all the different ways to battle

land, air, sea
