To the Fighter Ops Team:

I wish you and your colleagues the very best in your efforts to support our hobby. As you well know, you are undertaking a difficult endeavor under very difficult circumstances.

I agree with you that deeds matter most. You are in a difficult position that I know all too well. The conundrum of trying to keep the community informed without making promises too early or making commitments about things that have every possibility to change beyond your control. In this arena you will be judged both fairly and, unfortunately, very unfairly by a few. Sometimes it can be so rewarding and even inspiring that you can't believe you get to work on this stuff for a living. Other times you question your sanity and wonder why you didn't go off and make Fuzzy Bunny Games like the rest of the industry. Stick with it. I believe it is worth it and that the majority of people in this community are worth your sweat and tears.

It is unfortunate that some in this community are going to play the negative card every time and look upon any effort with contempt. Sure, there have been plenty of things go wrong with the efforts to continue the Falcon line. I am not here to be critical of someone else's efforts as I, unlike 99% of the people pointing fingers and making speculations, have worked on simulation projects as a professional. I know what the difficulties are like and how it feels to both succeed and fail. Either way, I am better for having made the effort. Remember that there has never been a statue erected to honor a critic.

I do love this community but I also find myself being constantly disappointed by the poor manners, bad attitudes, and general ill will of a very vocal minority. The majority of this community tends to be quiet and let the minority have the flame wars. Before anyone gets defensive I suggest you consider if the shoe fits then wear it. I am not singling out any one particular person.

I am not here to engage in a debate or second guess an effort by another group of software developers. I am here to say that I wish them the very best with their projects. It is likely we will be competitors but let's all take steps to remain friendly and cooperative as true professional competitors should behave. We want you to succeed.

Warm Wishes and the very best luck to the crew working on Fighter Ops from your friends at Eagle Dynamics.

Cheers,

Carl

P.S. On a personal note: Fix your intial announcement on your website - It's Marine "Corps" not Corp. Semper Fi!

Thank you Stormin and I am glad you understand!

"Other times you question your sanity and wonder why you didn't go off and make Fuzzy Bunny Games like the rest of the industry."

Couldn't agree with you more. But thanks to the people we do have, combat flight sims just won't die. :)

Probably because most flight simmers would get sacked for adding shotguns into the fuzzy bunny game

Best of wishes to this endeavor. I am so pumped by the courage of this team to take such a bold approach to an air combat sim. Good Luck! When will you be looking for a Beta Team?

Could not be said better than "Stormin" put it. Best wishes for your success from those who care about this genre. And also, as another former U.S.Marine. do follow Stormins recommendation and fix the "Corp" thing. We Marines are really touchy about those sort of things :military:

Let me pile on with a hardy "roll up da sleeves" lets build a flight sim.

Despite 100's of posts around the net bespeaking rumor (true or untrue), bitterness, hurt feelings, misunderstanings and what not. I feel like I have to make a desicion. My decision is to support you 100% in whatever ways I can.

The new site looks good and hopefully will soon be populated with techinical discussions, screen shots, charts, sources of info and what not. about ways to make the sim great

I envision a fluid workplace with exchanges of opinion, research, and observation, that help keep everyone excited and helpful.

Frankly I got tired of pissing matches. I am ready for a change.

March On

Stormin and Chief,

Good eye, lookin out for the Toyfull Hunden. If only we could get that kind of pride in our 'Shipwrecks', 'Hooahs' and 'Bus Drivers'. Then again, if they did, we wouldn't be able to drink all night for free everywhere we go (excluding Jacksonville, of course).

Ruh-ro, looks like my signature is verboten.

Mark,
Jacksonville? Hey I was there once in October '62 during the Cuban Missle Crisis. We were put at NAS Cecil Field. VMA-121 (A-'s) loaded to the gills with HE ordy and Nape. Sure glad that situation panned out the way it did. Would have been catastrophic on both sides. Take care. Semper Fi!

PS:
The "Chief" handle comes from my 30 years in the Fire Service. I have a corpsman bud who loves to call a Marine "Chief".

Chief,
DAMN! 62? My old (I mean young) man was finishing his "Kiddie Cruise" as a SeaBee in GTMO at that time. A bit before me, I'm afraid. How is AZ treating you? Have you gotten your once-a-year rainfall yet? I remember waking up in a hungover haze half naked outside the barracks, smelling rain but looking west the clouds would stop at the damn mountains and tease us. They stuck us in Yuma between our MTT trips to Nicaragua and East Africa. I think their plan was to keep us in the middle of nowhere to keep us outta trouble. Not a very well thought out plan though. Note to self: Never EVER put a bunch of grunts THAT close to the Mexican border! We almost took that country over (we would have too, if we didn't keep getting distracted by the Corona Warehouse and bars in Algodones). Not to mention the long haired, dark eyed, "hospitality". Hasta la bye-bye. By-the-way, I never found out what "Merro-Merro" meant. Any Mexicans I asked just laughed and wouldn't tell me.

Hey Mark,
Nice to know that some things never change. Had some great times while stationed TAD at MCAS Yuma. Yes, at the 5,500' level here below the Mogollon Rim, we have been getting some rain. Should be snow this time of year but will take what is provided.
Thanks for the service you are doing for your country. Never easy being away from home, no matter how good the "entertainment" is. Tell your fellow Marines "Thanks" also. Semper Fi! and stay well.
