Actually can of you American guys, (or girls), tell me what do the numbers commentated such as "4 down and 10" mean in American football?

I'm german, but nevertheless:
Eacht team has got 4 downs (tries) to advance 10 yards towards the opponent's endzone. If they accomplish this, they get another 4 downs.
1st and 10 means 1st down, 10 yards to go.
2nd and 7 : 2nd down, 7 yards to go.
1st and 25 is also possible due to penalties.

Just someone who has been around since the beginning. I worked as a beta tester on the first few patches before the F4UT but then left because of RWC. If you still have the old patches on your drive you can find my name on the credits. Sascha "Conan" Mangs. You can also ask Ninja from the 87th about me. I also setup one of the first online squadrons for F4 when it first came out. I don't know if some of you guys remember the Marauders. Probably not, they have been gone for quite some time. Well, I was running the 34th TFS out of that group. That's me. Just someone who is interested in the project.
