I'm after some help fixing my Cougar.

I'm trying to take the "Ant Elev" dial off so i can replace the pot with one that works.

My problem is I cant seem to work out how the knob comes off the pot. As far as i can tell it should just pull off but for all my pulling and prying it doesn't want to budge. If i pry any harder I'm afraid I'll break it.

Any ideas/tips would be appreciated.

PS does anyone know of any Cougar discussion boards / forums?

Those boards died when Frugals closed.

I would check viperpits.org. I think those guys are your only option at this point. Good luck man!

Thanks guys. Got it fixed.

It was as i thought ... just a matter of pulling it off. The trick was they put a heap of quite strong glue on the pot spindle and into the dial so it was stuck on really well.

Unfortunately the way i got it off was to literally rip the dial out with the spindle still attached which destroyed the old pot. This didnt bother me as the whole point was to replace the pot but if you need the pot then this method isnt for you!

Once out i just got some heat onto the spindle to loosen up the glue and out came the spindle from the dial (with some mild persuasion).

New pot is in the throttle and I'm about to test it out! Fingers crossed.

If anyone has contact with the guys at Cougar world, I had offered them web hosting here some time ago, I can't remember the outcome it was either that they expected Frugals to come back or had already organised alternative hosting, however if they are not currently hosted somewhere and someone has contact with them, then the offer is certainly still open.
